    Why does my head itch when I ski?

    I've found recently that my head itches a ton when I ski. It happens whether I wear a hat or a helmet (I wear a hat when teaching at night after work and a helmet when I actually go skiing). Anyone else have this happen or anyone have any insight into this (and yes, I do shower on a daily basis). I usually find myself sitting on the lift around lunchtime with my helmet in my lap, scratching my head for 2/3 of the ride up.

    Perhaps this.
    Or try shampooing every 2nd day so the natural oils in your head don't get washed out everyday?

    Cut your hair short = problem solved.

    After 10 years in dental school, I started a follicle dermatology clinic in a poor remote Himilayan mountain town just to help folks like you with serious problems like this (thank Buddah for these interwebs);

    I recommend you...

    1. take showers with water temp not so hot
    2. if you take more than a shower a day only shampoo once
    3. skip wool content hats and go with a micro-fleece instead
    4. remove the helmet on occassional lift rides to help dry the sweat

    If the hat and helmet have similar materials against your skin (ie fleece) then you could have a mild alergic reaction. How often do you wash the hat, ever (and how old is the helmet and the number of hours you have sweat in it)?

    If you use any particiular brand of shampoo all the time- check the bottle too for any type of fragrances or perfumes. Maybe switch brands to something that is designed specifically as fregrance free or for those with skin alergies.

    Or you could be sweating and have dry scalp as others have stated. I have short hair and from time to time put some aloa vera gell on my head to help keep the dryness from getting too bad this time of year.

    If it continues the only cure could be quit skiing or ski with nothing at all on your head for a period and see if it stops then. One of the 2 could be the last resort, as amputation is probably too drastic of a measure.

    Try Dr. Parvo's Patented Penis Cream & Scalp Salve.
    Apply to the affected area vigorously for 10 minutes or until satisfaction is reached. Then wipe your penis off on the curtains and repeat 2x daily.
    Remember, Dr. Parvo's Patented Penis Cream & Scalp Salve is a name you can trust -- its in the bottle with a picture of my penis on it.

    Scalp fungus. The giveaway is that you are wearing a hat all the time causing your head to be a warm moist place that is ideal for fungal growth. Get a good dandruff shampoo or a couple of them with different ingredients to give the fungus a good kill. Works for me. If it doesn't work then you have a different problem. It looks like scalp itch can be caused by a bunch of different stuff.

    I don't usually sweat that much (even in the summer, I tend to be one of the more dry people I know), and I use Head and Shoulders daily. Right now, my guess is that I'm drying my scalp out from shampooing every day, and/or sweating. Guess I'll stop shampooing every day, and see how that works. Maybe cut my hair short and try the aloe treatment.
