Going on the annual sled/ski trip to a ranch in Idaho at the end of February and my friend has now changed the dates on me. I'm flying Frontier which charges a $150 change fee. I did a little searching and found this older article on how to avoid the change fee - obviously things have changed quite a bit since then.

Last time flying Frontier, the lady at the check it counter was going to charge me the $15 or $25 for the first checked bag, until she noticed that I didn't have any carry-on. She reveresed the charge noting that if you didn't have a carry-on they could waive the first bag fee.
As far as flying with skis - am I going to get screwed? Do most of you carry your boots, check the ski bag with all clothes or what?
I'd really like to avoid the change fee if possible...I can deal with a first bag fee I suppose![]()
