I'd bet that would be a rad ski in corn conditions. Some guys got buried by a slide there in the 80's. Believe it or else there's lots of places in MI where you should probably be thinking about the snowpack.

Nubs is the only place that I would leave the U.P. to ski if my decision was based on terrain alone. The 'fae is an upgrade if you normally ski Brighton or Swiss Valley, but it isn't exactly a destination resort.

This is going to sound ridiculous, but the waterpark at the mountain is freakin' sweet! That would probably be my second choice.

    Yoop -

True - lots of us do frequent Cab... its close, cheap and offers to psuedo OB fun stuff that allows us the delusion of excitement. I'll put ya down for Nubs, Mountain and Who fucking cares?

I'm thinking I'm leaning more towards a Nub's/Mountain Summit on 2/6. If we did the mountain there's the old Thunder Mountain ski hill near by which would probably be fun to hike. Nub's is always a good time too. Besides, for me, I go to Cab all the time, it'd be nice to have a change of scene.

Hadn't thought of it that way but you're right... the Mountain and Nubs are only about 45 minutes apart... staying in Petosky would make for a sub 30 minute drive... either direction. Thunder does indeed look like fun; 250 to 300 honest feet of 35-40 degree goodness...

PB - clarify... you say on 2/6... that's a Friday. I was operating on the assumption that this would be a Sat / Sun affair...

Caberfae or Nub's would be my choice. As far as dates, can make most any weekend except 3/28

Bumping thsi up for last minute votes...

Given proximity, Mountain and Nubs were combined (making the choice between Cab and Mtn / Nubs) at present Mtn/Nubs leads by 1 pt and the date is 2/28&29 by a 2 to 1 margin.

I'm open to Nubs / Mtn or the Cab. 2/28-3/1 weekend also works for me and I am available (unless something comes up).

(just to add to the point spread)

I'm down with Nubs/Mtn anytime as I live there, 2/28 is a no go as I will be at Bohemia that weekend, any other time I am in.

actually, 2/28 would work for me. I can't commit right now, but it's a definite possibility.

I'll be at Cab on Friday night, but not Saturday. 2/28 is the first day of GVSUs spring break so that weekend would work excellent for me. Hell, if things play out right, I might continue on to the UP and Boho to catch some turns up there during that week. As long as conditions cooperate for such an adventure.

Will probably be at the Big C on Saturday for a while. Early in the day is better, before the lines get to long.

Just to make my vote official and shit: Nubs/Mountain, but the weekend doesn't matter to me. And can I claim my spot next to the beer right now?

    Alrighty then...

    DATE = 2/28 & 3/1

VENUE = MOUNTAIN / NUBS w/ a Thunder Mtn BC Chaser.

Nubs Saturday and Mountain / Thunder Sunday?

Now all we need is a late season storm. And a sled. And Burritos.

    Sorry Guys,

Won't be able to make it. While your shredding the ice at Nubs , the Champaign powder at Steamboat and the Legendary runs at Mary Jane will be keeping my quads burning... .

A different weekend and I would have been in though.

Is it too late to vote? Heh!
    Been absent, I suppose.
I will be up next weekend. Hung up the skis for the season, boarding only at this point. My buddy is having a birthday next week, and Caberfkna was his first choice of places to go, within driving distance. I tried to convince him of another, but its fae. I guess we are staying at the lodge.

Wont be making it this weekend, killing time in Detroilet with some family.

Sounds good. I'll see what I can do about convincing some friends with sleds that they should head up that weekend and BRAP around the area. We'll see. The burritos should be easier to make happen. For me, I'd be stoked if the weather allows for winter camping (read: lo temps above or near 15 degrees). A storm would be cool too on that Thursday and Friday, then bluebird for Saturday and Sunday...

I'm out. The skis aren't in great shape and responsibilities for my last few weeks of class are piling up on me way too fast.
