its a matter of balancing stiffness, rocker profile, and ski tip width

I have 182 Czars and 189 Obseths and its amazing how differently they ski on the way back to the lift. Even though it is a bit narrower it skis significantly better across the board and is every bit as good in the pow.

Rocker skis are the shit, even RC skis are bomb. I ski my pontoons everyday, and they are a blast.
Mogul's bumps, groomers, slush everything i ski on the pontoons. its fun to slide around on the mountain,
plus i love the clown feet man. plus i hate switching skis mid day. i hunt for untracked all day and if not i
find the slushiest part of the mountain. plus laying trenches in the groomers on the toons turns some heads, just like doing
    lines switch.

The only time i think to myself "why am i on the toons today?" is when its all ice and i just slide down with little or no control. but other than that i can do ANYTHING on my toons.

I'll assume, from my memory of their widths, that you are referring to the obsethed.
For the future "IT" is not a valid replacement for the name of the ski you are talking about.

Love my K2 Mt Bakers, but noticed on my way out the door to Jackson that one (and only one) definitely has a brand spanking new camber to it. Very gradual, many people stopped me at the mountain to get more info on the new line of rockered Bakers, and to be honest I had a blast on them all week on powder, hardpack, groomers, more powder, etc. Somehow the lack of a camber on the other one didn't bother me much, but I'd still like to balance them out one way or the other. I know no shop would recommend trying to bend the other one, but would you? I really don't wanna ditch the skis, but if the experiment does end badly it's not the end of the world, I got these for a GREAT deal and love excuses for more skis.

Back in the days when people were using GS skis as all-mountain skis, they got unintentionally rockered all the time.

I killed many pairs that way and never realized (or noticed) the benefit of the rocker in powder...

On groomers? No way. It snowed this afternoon for the first time this year, btw, so to ski Verbier, you should bring more than powder skis.

    Everywhere else? Sure.

I tried a friends 189 Obseths today. Skied them on hard groomers, and if you push them hard and lean really far into the turn, they rail like crazy.

The floppy tip seems to disappear if you just lean over far enough into the turn.

Very, very fun to ski, they were just as much fun as my own 186 LP´s, which admittedly have much duller edges...

demoed 7-8 birdos in verb in groomed, crust, icy moguls, tracked chalk, and (finally...) a light dust of pow. Interestingly, there were some skis of the same shape (early bird and puder luder) with or withouth rocker. In brief: rocker forever. I'll write a review soon.

I think a variety of skis in your quiver is the way to go. Currently have a pure front-side carver which is great for railing groomers all day, and two pairs of goats. I think I am 100% going to sell one of the 190 goats and try to pick up some used Hellbents, ARGs or maybe JJ's(??).

I only tested JJ's on rock hard surface (so take this with grain of salt) but...I'd say if you already have Gots, go for the big ones (= ARG's, Lotuses, Hellbents, Kuros whatever, >120mm middle). JJ feels not that big ski actually.

I also talked with a guy that has some sort of spancership from Armada, and he recommended that "ARG's are so much better for pure pow - you only need to buy JJs if you're into jumping and BC jib stuff..."

So, if I was to buy a pair of JJ's (still interested) I'd probably use them as a "quiver of one" and sell my Gots. If you know what I mean?
"Average summit heights are around 1000m to 1200m but on the high glaciers of the main Lyngen Peninsula there are summits over 1400m with Jiehkkevarri being the highest at 1834m above sea level."

    Thanks,

I was wondering this as well. I was leaning more towards a more pure powder board as opposed to the JJ's - which as you say is more akin to the goat...

To answer the question about tele's on reverse camber skis...

I have the Hellbents mounted with Hammerheads and they are fantastic in untracked and actually fun on groomers as well. However, in icy bumps, or crud, you need to keep your feet REALLY close together to keep upright, and yes, the tails wash out.

I just got some megawatts, and am much more satisfied with the rockered tip and flat tail in ALL conditions

Pontoons beat me up in the cut up Sierra cement and chopped pow compared to my Praxis. The Praxis cut through while the Pontoon tips ride on top and get bucked around. For pure pow I prefer the Pontoons and they are better on groomers than Praxis...not at all a pita.

Rocker for groomers? This month I demo'd the 09/10 (same ski as this year but with a new topsheet graphic) 189 Seth at center mount and it railed firm groomers better than my old Seth Vicious mounted + 2.5 However, the rocker on the Seth appears to be quite minimal.
