    Time Warner or Verizon Fios?

So we've been using the neighbors wireless since we moved in to our apartment in NYC(with their permission), recently they got evicted out of their apartment so all their shit is getting tossed soon. What this means is I'm gonna have to sign up for a new service and I'm wondering if you prefer time warner over verizon fios. Right now we'd just be going with internet, but I'm hoping within a couple months, I'll have enough cash to pay for a nice lcd and we'd be getting some sort of basic HD package. My friend says fios is fast but their tv package is weak, your input is appreciated.

We've had Comcast since we moved to the states, but will be switching over to Verizon Fios for internet and tv.

edit: Forgot 2nd part. Most of my buddies use Verizon for their stuff and I'm quite happy with it. Great internet speeds and tons of tv offerings.

I'm in Flushing and we have time warner. I have no complaints.
Fios has a few more hd stations. Thats the only real difference. But tw is constantly adding more.

TWC has way more HBO and Skinemax Channels...and the HD lineup is getting better and better.

Personally, I think the HSD service is better then FIOS. My family in Mass has FIOS HSD and they hate it.

I was just looking at fios online and apparently I would need to purchase a phone line just to get the direct tv programming. After the shit I went through canceling DirectTV when I lived in colorado, I think I'll be going with TWC.

I don't think you can even GET Fios in an apartment building.

I was happy with Time Warners cable, but didn't have their broadband. I had Verizon DSL and liked it.

Remember, cable internet speeds suck during peak usage periods, while DSL remains stable at all times. This is a problem I'm having now with OptOnline (IO).

I had TWC when I lived on the UES and it was garbage. On demand stuff never worked, the signal went out all the time- the one positive was that the customer service people were really nice and would give me free access to premium channels when I called to complain about my shitty cable.

    Internet was fine though.

I'm not sure that the FIOS system is complete yet. Some 18 year old was selling it door to door here last summer but there was some sort of issue with the interweby part. I don't know. We've got TWC and you won't catch me complaining.

My sister DVR's a lot of stuff, and says that the capacity is much lower with the unit provided with Fios (as compared to the one she had with Optimum).
