Just to be clear: You're nominating Butthole Surfers for worst band in the world? Worse than Creed, Nickelback, Limp Bizkit, and the Jonas Brothers?

I can't believe that Good Charlotte isn't getting much love in here...
My orders came through. My squadron ships out tomorrow. We're bombing the storage depots at Daiquiri at 1800 hours. We're coming in from the north, below their radar.

It features Avenged Sevenfold covering the song "Flash of the Blade". "Maiden are by far the best live band in the world and their music is timeless," quoted by vocalist M Shadows. "This also gives us a chance to expose this great song to some of our younger fans who maybe aren't as familiar with Iron Maiden." [5]

Well whaddayknow...I'm sure there is a reason why the disc is free. I'll pass, however. I don't want to hurt my virgin ears.

    And oh yeah, Primus SUCKS!

    Primus does, indeed, SUCK.

Good to see there are friends of Les here. My friends tried to get my Radio Name changed to "Mud" in the early 90's... no baseball bats or craniums involved.

No, I'll admit to being uninformed on this one. When Pyromania came out I was probably 11, and it was a fucking cool album for an 11 year old in 1983. I used to walk around doing my best headbang to Rock of Ages and Photograph. After that I kind of stopped paying attention to them except to note the Spinal Tappishness of them continuing with a one armed drummer.

I thought some of the later albums were far more popular, though.

They were, especially Hysteria. High-n-Dry ws actually re-released in the US after Pyromania was a success. The only song I remember off the top of my head is "Bringin' on the Heartbreak," but I do remember buying the LPs in reverse order due to the re-release.

The song about pouring some sugar on me? I listened to that song numerous times when I was about 14 in order to get some girl's bra off...

As for popularity, yeah, their later stuff was definitely more popular. It's like the more they sucked, the more popular they got. Pyromania was their big break-through, and Hysteria was the follow-up with "Pour Some Sugar on Me". I think I was 14 or 15 at the time Pyromania came out and we all banged our heads to it too. But then as I got a little older I began to appreciate musical talent more than just hype and I began to realize that the only Def Lepard album that was even worth listening to was High 'n Dry. Not that it's any great musical tour de force either, but it's far superior to anything they did afterwards.

Oh, okay, so you're NOT saying they're the worst band in the world. That's cool, I'd have to jump to their defense if someone was saying that. I really like Butthole Surfers but if this were the "what's the best band in the world" thread I don't think I'd be nominating them for that either.

Whether or not you're a fan of theirs, they objectively do not belong in the same discussion as such shit as Creed, Nickelback, Phil Collins, etc. C'mon, buddy, if you're gonna troll, troll convincingly.

I nominate Big & Rich because they are the physical embodiment of why all modern pop-country sucks my sweaty taint.

High n Dry was good, Pyromania decent & Hysteria barely tolerable, but all this talk of Def Leppard and no mention of their debut, On Through The Night, IMO their best. They were hungry teenagers back then, a part of the NWOBHM. Saw 'em in 1981 opening for Pat Travers on his Crash & Burn tour, that was a great show!
