    Backcountry.com..=LAME with TILT goodness!

Backcountry.com has removed in warehouse pickup for online orders placed. Appraently you can still go to the warehouse and order it and pickup, but cannot pickup orders made over phone or online..

please complain here if this pisses you off as much as me.

You must have a hard time watching the news, reading a newspaper, or generally just looking outside without wanting to kill someone with a spoon.

Oh, let me go and get my violin...

Christ, SkiDog, you must have something better to complain about. You live close enough to their warehouse to pick shit up there so you must be somewhere near SLC which makes you a damn sight luckier than many of us. BC.com is good shit in general. Lay off. Everyone's gotta make sacrifices these days and as far as I can tell, this is a small one.

OK jerk off...I was asked by an employee to spread the word.....so im doing just that..

I agree...bc.com has the most solid deals around. I will most likely still be making most of my outdoor purchases from there, but its still pretty lame. If I can go to the warehouse, place and pickup my order, how hard is it for them to allow me to order online or over phone and also pick up??? Seems shortsighted, and no matter what you say I already know of at least a dozen people that arent soo happy about it.

would you buy something off BC.com or SAC say for $8 (t-shirt) and pay $5 to have it shipped if you could pick it up somewhere else for just the $8?

Again...im just spreading the word as to where to file a complaint if you indeed have one.

Maybe if you get enough people to complain, they will need to offset their rising "pickup" costs by not giving us 15-20% off every time we ask.

I doubt it has anything to do with the fact that warehouse employees are already at capacity packing boxes for thousands of orders a day right now, which can be done in an orderly fashion and only need to be done before the UPS trailers depart, while drop-in pick-ups of $8 t-shirts require an employee to drop what they are doing and pick your order immediately so they don't have an agitated New Jersey transplant ranting and spitting all over the seasonal help.

Fixed it for ya, my buddy told me this morning about it and wasn't super stoked either.

Not sure how many $8 items they are selling these days but yea, pick up at the warehouse is nice if you're in the neighborhood and want to save a few clams

If I were you it might annoy me too. Who knows?

I am certain that it's not the end of the world, though, and I'm just reminding you to have a little perspective. I'm sure they're not doing it arbitrarily.

Also, did I really come off nasty enough to warrant calling me a jerk off? I thirst for approval and can't stand it when people don't like me so I'd really appreciate your input.

Meh....you're right not the end of the world, but it should be possible still...just a little pain is all....I can usually wait a day so ...but it was still a VERY NICE option.

Now did it warrant a "jerk off"? I dont know "let me get my violin" set me off...

Whats the big deal if you take 5 mintues to order it at home then leave and pick it up and if you left and took 5 minutes there to pick it up?

Either way I fail to see anydifference between the two. Either way you are driving to the warehouse and either way it just takes a couple of minutes to order.

Or hire someone to do the instores...Ever been in there??? Everyday theres TONS picking up...they could easily justify hiring someone for that exactly..but hey...i guess you know it all...I used the $8 t-shirt as an example...I dont usually buy items that cheap so, but again..who wants to pay $5 shipping (for slowest option) for something they may have paid $10 for? not many that I know.

Alec Baldwin's character says that in the movie Outside Providence. It cracks me up and therefore I use it every time I get a chance. I'm sure it sounds funnier in my head than it reads on a computer screen. Nothing personal.

Local pickup at the BC.com warehouse is great and it helps mitigate the added cost of sales tax for locals. I’ve always wanted a “local pickup” option during the checkout process rather than calling or chatting to make the local pickup request.

Does anyone know why they are doing this? Is it because some people wait too long to actually pick up their order? If so, then they could institute a one or two day pickup policy or the order ships automatically (they only refund shipping after the item is picked up). The grommits’ in the warehouse are pretty efficient so local pickup could/should be a win-win for locals and BC.com since both save on shipping costs.

you fail to see the difference because your not close enough to matter.

Whe I was close enough it was really nice to save shipping and get that stuff that day.

also remember utard pay sales tax when noone else does.

Something I didnt even think of...

and you're right (most of you) it ISNT the end of the world...it was just a nice service to be able to take advantage of. If enough complain they might see it really does effect their customer base and change it back. There are a TON of people within driving distance of this warehouse to make a difference.

Some people don't show up to get their orders. Some people are rude when they show up. It's probably just not worth it to them, which sucks for locals. As Skidog said you can just go over there and order it then pick it up.

Your idea is a pain in the ass and gets in the way of efficient distribution center management as well as the fact that it creates more paperwork for finance.

did I say shit about employees? I could give a fuck..im a paying customer I am one of those that keep them in business. It is my right to complain to a company I have spent MANY MANY dollars with when they take away a service that I enjoyed..thats the beauty of it. the beauty of a forum like this one is that I can spread the word to "masses". I dont give a shit if it doesnt effect you..it effects ME...you dont wanna complain..?? DONT!

Employees are already getting even deeper discounts. why would I give a shit about how and when they can pick up their new gear?

I typically tie-in a free shipping order with a SAC/Tramdock/Chainlove order and then pick-up both orders at the same time. The SAC/Tramdock/Chainlove deal is the carrot that induces me to pull the trigger on what is otherwise a shopping cart "wish-list" rather than an actual order.

But yeah, having a bunch of unfulfilled orders sitting around on the shelf would suck. Last time I was at BC.com, there was a dude with a shit eating grin apologizing for taking three weeks to pick up his order.
