Yeah, we could move. My wife and I want to get near real mountains when I'm done with school.
Its all good man, I lived out west for a couple of seasons. Spent about 6months at Stevens pass in '04-'05(never really snowed that year there) and then moved to Tahoe to work at Sugarbowl for the remainder of '05 (it was how you say...epic?) Spent all of 05-06 at the 'bowl and had a blast but began to realize with college bills rolling in that ski bumming was not really fiscally possible any more. Moved back to MI to sort out my life and got into substitute teaching and coaching soccer around here. I'm working on getting my education certification and hope to be done with that by April 2010 at which point I will promptly pack my bags for WA, or AK or any other state with good riding and available earth science teaching jobs...I love the summers here in Michigan, don't get me wrong, but fuck the winters here...they would be so much better if we had mountains, but we don't so I must leave ASAP.....

You Michiganders (<that word is in the spell check in Firefox, wow) don't have it too bad, think of all the poor people in say Wisconsin, or Illinois, or even Indiana.
At least here in Northern Indiana, the state line is only an hour away. The skiing sucks, but the biking isn't that bad. There's only 1 or 2 months out of the year the trails are too wet to ride.

Hey all...
...just put together a few people to head to the UP and hit up Bohemia this weekend.
1) Any new no-shit conditions update? Guess that don't really matter since we're heading up there no matter what...but I'm wondering how much this past week's warm weather has hosed everything.
2) Any one going to be around this weekend up there?
^^ I like those names for those runs better. A LOT.

As much as I've been grumbling about the weather on here lately, I think it would be worse to be out in Jackson, UT, or CO right now and have to look at all that terrain and good snow only to know full well that heading out there (BC) would be a bit like a game of Russian Roulette with an extra slug or two in the chamber....I hope shit settles down for the Mags out there.

Bump with a who's skiing where this Saturday?
It's 5 o'clock somewhere.
My wife and I were just talking about a Swiss trip on Saturday.
keep me posted. I might get out there. gotta road test the new car!
It's 5 o'clock somewhere.
I'll be at Bohemia Friday, Saturday, and Sunday this weekend. I'll be wearing gray pants with a greenish jacket, on either Pimps w/Dukes or old Elizabeths. Hit me up if you're out.
Hopefully Fonix will grace us with some photos of the Bohemia gamble. They claim that they've had 5" over night with another 3-5" on the way today, but I highly doubt it....probably more like 1-2" last night with 2-4" on the way...we'll see I guess....A friend of mine was up in the UP visiting her boyfriend and she said that Eben had about 2ft on the ground with no real crusty layer...mostly fluffy snow, but that's a ways from the Keewenaw...
In other news....THIS WEATHER SUCKS, WHERE IS THE SNOW????

Dammit! I just got back. Did you see the idiot with the Praxis Powders? Oh wait - you're up there yet. Nevermind...
edit - Update: Boho had about 3" on top of a firmer layer (I wouldn't call it "crust") on Thu. Got about 5" of Supafluff overnite and was snowing all day today. There was also quite a bit of good snow (like knee-deep) in areas less traveled by gapers and exreme skiers. Today (Fri) was actually pretty fun. I'm guessing Fonix will probably have a pretty good time.

Nah man, it could be a lot worse...I could live on the east side of lower Michigan. Besides, its not like its been puking up north lately either...I just have to make it through the rest of this winter and all of next and then I will be once again free of the bullshit winters here in the midwest.

Depends where you look, but I would say anywhere between 16 and 36 inches. 16 or 18 in my yard in Harvey. Up to 36 out in the woods toward Negaunee. Probably 24+ in the woods around Marquette Mountain.
There is a drift behind my garage that is about 5 feet deep.... I had plans to wrap myself up in some sort of battery powered christmas lights and huck off the roof at midnight, but it lost some of its appeal as the night wore on...
Here is a snowshoeing picture from Christmas day in my back yard. We live in a relatively low snow area.... too close to the lake.
