I hear ya. I'm cursed to have that as my midweek lap-pool. I prefer dull rusty spoons though. Thank God for cheap airfare and Eagle Co airport.

Obviously you've never seen this TR. Personally one of my favorites, it has the genuosity of TedSki's first TR, but lacks the comedic value and grass skiing of Dexter Rutecki's.

Post a TR when you get back, I've always been intrigued by the place.
I still call it The Jake.

Cab: 15" since Monday, 6-10" forecasted for tonight... South Peak rumored to open next weekend... we'll see... Woods / Sidecountry said to be filled in nicely and ready to go...

Boyne had 10" last night and more on the way...

If you hit Cab on Sat and see a pair of Bro's, say hello.

I did that last week. The guy looked at me like I had 3 heads. Was a relative of a PMGear owner or something? Not a friendly guy....

Oh, and Flat, if some strange female comes up to you and says, "Bite me!" that will be me... (but not this weekend)

Can't hit up cabby tomorrow due to work. Have fun flat.

NoHills - My wife and I might go to Swiss next Saturday the 13th. Jamie says they should open some time next week assuming snowmaking goes well this weekend.

If the 'effin Fed Ex guy would get here, I'd be at Crystal in about 40 minutes. Looks like Caberfae is on for Sunday.

Lake effect band from Caberfae up through Benzie County into Grand Traverse & Leelanau should bring at least another 6-8" tonight.

FYI, I've been plowing nonstop since Monday, we have gotten 20+ inches in places (mostly the Boyne Falls/Thumb Lake area) and the forecast calls for 5 more days of snow. As for the mountain getting tracked not to worry, wednesday there were 8 of us.

Sundown is the gnar and all but for a great deal check out other side of the Mississippi at Chestnut in Galena, IL. dont know if its still going on but they used to have lift ticket price= whatever day it was in december (so today, 12/5, would be $5 ticket, tomorrow, $6, etc.). And of course if you're from Chestnut, Sundown or Wilmot, you're probably rippin at Loveland now.
My dad and lil bro have better snow than my buddies in Tahoe!

My wife and I are going to ski somewhere in the Midwest right at the end of the year - like December 29/30/31 - not sure where yet - maybe Devils Head, more likely Granite Peak - just need to get some time back on skis before a series of trips back to Utah in 2009. Always good to meet up with anyone around here in the flatlands.

    On another note...

Now that we have an REI in Lincoln Park (where our new skis are being mounted now - at $55 each, this better be the best freaking mount ever...but anyway - the shop folks seem nice) - at least there's somewhere to take all our interweb gear purchases to without feeling bad about not buying local.

You should go up to Bohemia for New years Eve. Sure it's probably about +4 hours longer drive for you than Granite Peak, but on the plus side it's not a completely flat, wind-blown overpriced pile of shit. Big New Year's summit up at Bohemia - all the cool guys are gunna be there!

    Granite Peak does completely blow.

Don't listen to those guys, at Granite Peak you get to pay mountain rates for less than half the hill and you also get to pay for fine cuisine food that you'll be able to taste for a second time! You can also get that same great rate at Devils Head!
Afraid of heights? Don't worry, that will not be a problem here.

Besides I heard Mount Bohemia sucks, all it does is snow.

Sorry for the confusion. It wasn't a swastika tattooed on my dick, it's a road map of Milwaukee.

Winter storm warning for Northern Michigan. Around 10"-12" expected near M-55, slightly less further North. Tomorrow is looking to be a great day at Caberfae, but should be pretty good for all the hills up there.

My wife and I will be at Cab next Monday evening - Wednesday. Everything should be filled in nicely with stashes to be found for the next several days. Hopefully south peak lift starts turning soon.

My attempt at a last minute Christmas - new year's trip west seems to be a total failure, so I need recommendations for a hill in Minnesota.

Hopefully somewhere that strikes a balance between decent size and not too far north...

    Any recommendations?

If I ever lived in Michigan, in a place where M55 was considered "northern Michigan," I think I would shoot myself in the face.

    (no offense, emtnate)

    I kinda like Welch Village...

Afton Alps is a shit show, Buck and Hyland are tiny. Up by Taylors Falls, you've got Wild Mtn. and Trollhaugen, but they are kind of flat and boring.

Other than that, you're getting quite a ways North. Giants Ridge, Spirit, and Lutsen way up there....

    Where are you coming from?
