    ASTM and Fritschi's

What's the deal with Fritschi's. Are they supposed to be tested on an ASTM machine? I think they're not on the indemnified list, but shouldn't they be tested anyway, technically?

I'm going to be a candidate patroller at Jay this winter and our tech shop wouldn't test them since he didn't think he was certified to do it.

I had mine tested on the machine once, which completely confused the tech who seemed to encounter these weird binders for the first time. She set them to 7 or so. Needless to say they came off before I could say fritchi. So, it might have been the tech, but it seems the test machine doesn't work for fritchis.

Fritschi's don't follow a standard indemnification process. Most of the shops in my area will mount them, but leave the release at the minimum, and they make darn sure to tell customer's to read the manual on how to set them. So to answer your question, No they shouldn't be tested as there is no standard release characteristics for an AT sole. Also, it is my understanding that the machine is designed to keep the ski from flexing during the test, so that only the binding is reacting. Thus the flex inherent to a fritschi causes issues with the test.

Fritschi's are odd. There is no test to make you certified to work on their bindings, like Salomon, Rossi, Marker, etc. has. I'd agree with using the Vermont tester and go by the release values on the chart that come with the Fritschis.

I got garmont AT boots with the soles you can swap ,I find with the AT soles I get pre-release with my freerides only at the heel and I have to crank the heel piece an extra DIN .Swap to the DIN sole, properly reset toe height / boot length and the release performance is much better with the DIN sole ... no pre-release
