Troll: What would Maggots like to see?

We're trying to think of some cool SIPs (Special Issue Projects, in publishing lingo) for Powder. Surfing, for example, does a cool posters issue that we're thinking of biting, and a few years ago we did a resort guide that we're considering bringing back. Aside from those, what are some cool one-offs or yearly publications you would like to see (and ideally would buy) from Powder.

    Muchas Grabass Maggitos!

my mom won't let me hang posters but how about stickers I could put them on my Trapper Keeper !

seriously though I am intrigued with the return of the resort guide, done with a non " Snow Country " angle it could be useful ! maybe BC info included ?

These are features like Little Areas That Rock, and Cool World, etc? Or special issues entirely?

    Which? Or Both?

Powder To The People Special Issue - just write a bunch of features as you go and publish them in one edition at the end of the season. Kinda like a diary of a season with big reader involvement, kick ass photography and a million smiles.

A select few of us at Hood saw something like that as we found Splat in Natty's Teepee at 3 am. Had us running for our lives, blinded for life.

No thanks, I will wait for the Hot Nude Skier Chick Edition.

I liked the Road Hits (road-accessed passes) thing that was going on...Little Areas THat Rock was a classic of course, but its done...the On Location is of course a keeper idea...The Anniversary stuff was cool...Cool world or skiing related writing was good when it was good, and underwhelming when bad...Feature Shops is nice...

    What's missing??? Hmm....

    How about more humor?

A feature called "Think you're a Rockstar? Fucking Prove It!" could be funny as hell. Issue 1: Announce contest, whereby readers should submit written entries (reason) for why they should get the chance to try to keep up with a small group of pros for a day. Issue 2: Publish the 5 best and funniest of the letters, and put up a reader poll on the site for people to vote on who should get the chance, thereby increasing traffic there as well. Issue 3: announce winner. Have winner come out to meet pros for a day of skiing, and document with pics and a little video (mounting a helemt cam and a mic on said skier for the day could be priceless). Issue 4: publish results. If skier charges, then good for them. If not, we have quotes and pics of bonkage, and firsthand "view" (vid) of "trying to keep up with the Rockstars". Could be facking hilarious. End of the day, some dood gets a chance to ski with a pro, which by nature of the contest, is a big deal for him/her. We all get to laugh at the entries and the results, which by nature, are self-selected for excessive hubris. Its a win-win.

PTTP is a great idea. Analogously, an edition specializing in road trips:
    1) Magic to Killington to Sugarbush to MRG to Stowe
    or
    2) Mt. Ashland to Whitecap to Porcupine to Ripley to Bohemia to Marquette
    or
    3) Jackson to Big Sky to Discovery to MSB to Lost Trail
    or
    4) Aspen to CB to Telluride to Silverton.
    or
    5) AltaBird to Solitood to Snow Basin To Powder Mountain
    or
    6) Mammoth to Kookwood to Squaw
and the itinerant inanities that may provide some fleshly fabric for the story.

And more dumbness. Powder was the Dauphin of Dumb, the Sheik of Stoopid, the King of Kook. I'd like to see more stupid equipment reviews, lame resort surveys and bent humor.

And more telebettys in lederhosen or buckskin.

A hut trip write up. Hit up some of the better huts in all the various locales and discuss the BC skiing at the doorstep of said huts.

Hut tripping is rapidly becoming one of my favorite things in the BC. Wait... nevermind... don't do a write-up on that.

put drugged monkey or someone similar (I could do it) on some equipment reviews, though that would be more a recurring thing. Just have lots of serious ones, then one utterly dumb one for the stupid shit companies send you (I know you get some crap). Yoss's idea is gold, and stickers are always welcome. Definitely need a resort guide, though it should be dependent on what your readers say about it, maybe do a roadtrip area each issue (ex. VT+NH+ME, UT+nearby, CO etc.).

    "local legends"

The people who don't compete, don't play the publicity game, aren't spancered or trying, but rip the crap out of their hill.

Doesn't everyone know one for their respective hometown area?

A hardbound-like photo annual - with more photos than the photo annual. Basically a coffee table book.

    all amatuer/up & comer issue

    skiers/writers/photogs just breaking in.

we all love the pros. Nobis/Keane/Cohen have made & make your mag what i is, but an all newbie issue would be sweet & show a lot of people how special the pros like I mentioned really are.

I think the road trip idea is a keeper. It would be cool if they were simultaneous, I think it would give kind of a snapshot of the season.

    Ooops. Okay, well then...

The PTTP Diary Issue idea could be cool, and I think you could do all the reg features through the framework of the PTTP Diary idea.

    What else...

How about a "Making of" the next TGR movie? Profiles of the skiers, locations, explanations of how shots were taken, a timeline, all the background that doesn't get into a movie but which skiers would be interested in learning. Nice cross-promotional opportunities, too.
