Ha...sleds have been getting less stable since the 1st Rev came out....horses for coarse.

Tandem (Canadian) is pretty unique application. 36" ski stance, 174track and a gear down kit?

I do have baller friends that aren't sold of the Gen5 and there is a lot of love for 2016 Doos.

And now you can snowcheck a Freeride with a wide stance, no T Motion, no flex edge track...so a Polaris.

As a Gen 4 owner, I feel I need more talking points. Do Axys have known major issues?

Make a sled extra light weight and extra powerful and something else gets less attention.

They can tease skidoo for the shitty skidoo S module from the past but Polaris has little pencils holding together their suspension both front and rear. The turbo design is suspect AF but I haven't talked to any owners about them.... probably because they are still waiting on their order from 18 months ago to show up

Seems like most Polaris owners I know think top ends every 1500mi or kaboom is normal. I feel like 2500mi is fine on other brands. I wouldn't think twice about going 4000mi or more on a Suzuki 800.

The 19s (1st year of the 850) suffered from excess crankcase sealant that caused a lot of crank bearing failures. Most of them went out in the first few hundred miles and were replaced under warranty. I'd stay away from 19s unless they can prove they have a new motor. Other than that they're bulletproof. Mine runs between 99 and 100 no matter the snow and that's with 3 inch paddles. 2 upping is ghey. Polaris is a lot easier to work on and the chasis handle a lot better. There's a reason all the pros ride a poo

The front suspension parts on the poo are designed to destruct before the tunnel does.
The 24s have been at the dealer for weeks now .

How we are getting somewhere! If Ski Doos are easy to ride old guy sleds, sign me up!

Polaris is like a Nascar...high performance but you have to wheel it! Friend that have owned both say they are less tired after a day on a Doo.

And "what the Pros ride" is not even on the list of why I would pick something.

We’ve all bought or are looking for low km 2016s. I’m sure the latest sleds are incredible for deep powder play, but that’s not my priority.
Same priorities here. Not really interested in deep pow playing around. I found a 2016 174 locally that has 1400kms on it for $6k. So will go and check that out later this week.

You say that, but being able to go out on the machine on sketchy days and get constant faceshots without ever entering avalanche terrain is pretty fucking awesome.

I understand that but anecdotal evidence from kootenayskier whos in my back yard says they're pretty good.

Cheaper is better for me right now lol.

The old "I am strictly a bc skier, I am only going to use this incredibly fun machine for access purposes" line.

Man have heard/said that a few times.

Then you go out, get a bit stuck maybe and think "I should practice some skills on this"

Or on the way back on the old access trail and a fresh meadow appears, and ya think wow that looks like fun - all the face shots, the snow is so pristine looking, I should prob. just do a couple turns..

Soon, you are taking the skis for sled rides!

Then you are just taking the sled out - you know for the practice- and it is easier on your boots and tunnel to not bring the ski boots.

    Next thing ya know

Finally getting some work done on the sled. Motor is out and top end pulled apart. Now to get some parts ordered, machine work, and put her all back together. Really nice to have a ex artic cat mechanic helping me.

Thanks for this. I’ve been pausing every time I walk past my sled, poor thing is still under tight tarp wrap for the season. Feeling the urge to open her up to the air and getting her ready.
Snow on the local peaks has been late and sparse, but I feel the prickle of a typical el’Nino system - high elevation freezing level, but lots of precip. Will suck for our local ski hill and even the XC tracks, so alpine it will have to be

Interesting. But why still keep the spare tire on the back?
