FWIW there are pros with reasonable miles in these parts well within your budget. Maybe not what you are looking for but I sure like mine.

Just kidding. Pretty classic story though. Thanks fer yer help, and Mannix thanks for the info. My 2002 Summit took a lot of Blue Marble, had to be topped off after every ride, that's why I thought the ETEC was special. I have no other reference. Heat gun is a good idear.

The oil savings will be inconsequential, big picture. ETECs DO use less oil than non-etecs, if you're not on the throttle. On the bar, they consume plenty of both fuel and oil. That said, since I got ETECs, my oil consumption has gone down about a gallon a year, and miles are going up. There's truth to the fuel/oil thing, but it is not HUGE, really.

A horrible wrap? Is that possible? har. Easy. Heat gun. Get it hot, peel. The trick is going to be getting the residue off the plastic - if you don't, it'll collect dust and pine needles and bird feathers and look a whole different kind of horrible.

I'd do it. 11+ etecs are pretty bomber, and if you don't know that XPs "suck" (I don't think they do....), I suspect you'll like it Just Fine.

Brake cleaner works great removing sticky decal residue.

I rode an 12 600 etec xp for a quick lap today and was pretty surprised how good it handled ripping uphill in wet schmoo. I weigh 200lbs geared up too so dont be afraid of looking at 600's as a legit sled for less $ and almost guaranteed to go forever. Might be an issue for superdeep slednecking, but would be fine for ski access.

Yah, brake cleaner is good, as is WD40, goo gone, ehhh, lots of stuff. I have a lot of experience removing stickers from cars, I've yet to settle on ONE THING THAT WORKS, but brake cleaner is high on the list, especially on unpainted plastic (like a sled). Brake cleaner is pretty caustic, I cringe at spraying it on a $$$$ car paint job, but sleds? perfect.

TOTALLY agree on 600s. Hell, my Skandic (can't go too long before I start pimping the utilities) is a 600 etec, the SLED weighs 800#, we routinely put 4 people on it, or 3 + 1 on a rope, drag 2k vertical feet uphill. Granted, established roads, but yeah, a 600 Summit is totally viable for skiing.

I was riding with a buddy of mine two weeks ago and right as we were hopping on his 2006 rev 600 (that old sdi one), I asked him how many miles he had on it. 7600 something something. I know for a fact those weren't baby cake miles because I was around for a lot of them.

There's some truth to the small motor/long life.

I still wouldn't trade my 800 for one though.

I've been on a 12' Etec for the past 2 seasons. 1500 miles, no issues. Came off an 04' Summit and IMO the gas and oil savings is very apparent vs the Rev. The XP running boards suck so hack those off ASAP and get a pair of air frames or the like. Best Mod I've done. The XM's are easier to handle but the XP is still a killer mtyn sled and doesn't seem to hold many people back. I'd spend the additional $1k and get the Etec. I've never been a fan of how the M8's handle but it's prob b/c I've been a Doo slut my whole sledneck career.

Okay so i lost a small bolt with the socket today in the engine bay of my 2008 dragoon and i can't fucking find them. I have a magnet stick with a flash light on the end and i still can't find it. Been at it for 3 hours. Anyone got some tip on how to find those? id rather not take to the whole sled apart if i don't need too.

Is it the bendy magnet or just the telescoping kind?

    What bolt was it?

Telescoping one , could find a bendy one. It's the bolt for the exhaust valve cover (short one ) and a 10mm socket

Tip the sled on its side, bang the belly pan and knock the bolt into an area where you might be able to see it.

    Or...

Unless that bolt is made of gold, just get another bolt.

When I took the skid plate off my old sled last winter to replace the steering post I found four bolts, three sockets and a pair of sunglasses.

No idea how long they had been there. It was a 1996, so I'm guessing some of them a while. Lol.

Nice! I usually just find pine branch debris.

Bendywendy magnets rule. I just used mine doing the same thing like half an hour ago.

Finally picked up the sled yesterday, got it to my storage and am going to get out tomorrow in Brandywine to get some time in. Anyone going to be up there and wouldn't mind a newbie tagging along?

Yeh, I think the AC are probably the most aggressive looking sleds. Hope it rides half as well as it looks.
