So...uhhh...looks like I get to do this all over again. (I think).
Do I go new XM or new Pro RMK.

Both are made of steel, aluminum and plastic. No match for treebowling.
Maybe go with the non-glued option this time.
So it's totaled?

The glue part doesn't bother me. That glue stuff is used in a lot of applicaitons...
I do think the finish of the Doo stuff is better than the Polaris stuff. But I am honestly not a fan of T-Motion wash out syndrome sidehilling... But the E-Tec is better/more powerful.
Hmmmm....
(not totaled yet but I'm not accepting anything less than totaled - engine was turned at an angle - and it ran like this. Bottom end likely done. To recap, bottom end, tunnel, bulkhead, a arm, plastics, pipe, can...)
More fun in the sun and pow yesterday in Revy!

Hey, we need more than one picture! How is the T3?
Mellow day with the kid last weekend

I posted 2! The rest are on crackbook. T3 lives up to the hype and the 174 is a monster. The only stuck was behind an Arctic Cat 163 breaking trail. He burried it good and I decided to wait on the uphill rather than turn out into alder hell. Fired it up and tractored right up through a bunch of rooped up mess no problem. Broke into Keystone and Turtle with Rob Alford leading the charge. We found untracked zones for miles. Mind blowing trip to say the least.

Nice video pano dude. As a lover of the m7 that you are, I know a guy with a mint and I mean mint 2007 Ti LE with less than 500 km on it for sale if you are interested.
finally got a free min to put up some pics from my Revy trip last week...
leaving Whistler and not sure what we would find.
sunsetting over Eagle ridge outside Sicamous. Sick zone.
Rob Alford led the charge breaking trail into Turtle for the 1st time this season.
some sketchy sidehilling into Keystone unlocked the golden pow stash!
can't see it in the frame, but just below the trees is a 30 ft cliff waiting to write off your sled
clear sailing from there on out
Rode it out to the Keystone Cabin
thanks for the good times, Revy!

Nice Toby. Getting harder and harder not to break down and get a sled this year....
Awsome photos. Jealous
^^That got me horny
If you whisky throttle it into a sidehill, the Tmotion washes out and the front end of the sled will hook uphill on you. The easy solution is to ease in on the throttle and goose it right along a sidehill rather than gun it and go. No need to spool things up anymore with an XM. Even more so with the T3. My 174 tractors uphill breaking trail at 1/2 throttle. It is funny watching people used to an XP/Arctic Cat/Polaris ride an XM for the 1st time. They throw way too much into it and create a bit of negative feedback as a result. XM's are easy.

Yah, agreed - I don't have any problems with my XM washing out on sidehills. If I want it to turn uphill, I add a bunch of throttle, and that's ok with me. I think it really does boil down to what you're used to; I rode a friend's Pro last year, found it...eh. Once I started riding it harder, it came alive. It wanted/needed a pile of throttle to work, whereas the XM does not.
Not in a better/worse way, just different.
I'd buy a 174 XM right now, if I were buying new.

I've not ridden a 174" t3. I've not ridden any t3 (save on groomed stuff where paddle height did not matter). Everyone says the same things, though - the 3" paddles let you crawl around where other sleds need some momentum.
One of my favorite things about my Skandic is the fact that you CAN crawl around - that makes the t3 (either length) really appealing to me. I'm really focused on skiing, not so much sledding - certainly have fun on the sleds when not skiing, but they're lifts first, by a long shot, for me. Being able to make roads slowly is nice - or, not HAVING to get runs at stuff is nice. The T3 really, really appeals to me for that reason alone.
That said, my 163" XM is pretty freaking awesome. The line that divides what the T3 will do and the "old" XM will not do is way, way past what I want from a road perspective - the T3 would just make it easier.
Dunno. I'm enough of a gadget-freak that I'd have trouble buying a non-t3 right now; had the t3 existed - or even if there'd been rumors - when I bought my XM, I'd have waited/bought the t3.
BUT - a 163" xm is a pretty ridiculously capable sled. Granted, I'm used to my XM, no a Pro, but riding my friend's 155" 2014 Pro last year was an eye opener - I was reluctant to get on it because I did not want to like it. I was really wrong - for me, the XM is way better. I _get_ why people like Pros, I don't think the XM is dramatically better (although I really agree on fit and finish, the Pro looks like a kit car compared to a Skidoo), but *I* certainly like the XM better than the Pro, by a considerable margin. Clearly, they're both good, but....eh? Dunno.
ford vs chevy, sigh.
The washout thing is "real," in the sense that the two sleds behave differently, but that's kinda like skis and characteristics, some skis like to be driven harder than others, same thing.

Mannix-
I had a 14 163 xm that I thought was the shit until I caved in the entire left front side at the end of last season... otherwise Id still be riding it. I bet the T3 acts like a high performance skandic. Here in BC theres quite a bit of vertical fuckery to punch through before the alpine skiing opens up, so a skandic would only work hanging off the back. I like to get out first and roop up for fresh tracks, so theres no option but an xm. I think the cats and pros ride really well but you gotta have em spooled up real hard to get through the fuckery and that takes skill I dont have! Hahaha. Tanks god for XM!

Another big consideration is resale - If I want to dump the sled next fall and get something else I have a feeling it'll be tough with respect to the pros for a few reasons. 1) There are a lot of them out there. 2) New chassis/motor rumored for 16.
XM - I don't see much changing!
All that said I'm buds with Keith Curtis - so I'd like to stay on the Pro just for his help!!
that guy is hugely talented, I've seen some hillclimb footage, yikes.
Yep. Sometimes your local scene/shop will dictate your ride. Thats how I ended up on Ski Doo. Theres a Cat shop local, but no Polaris and everyone pretty much on Doos, so that seems to be the local knowledge/fix peer group.
The best sled is the one between your legs!

Oh for fuck's sake, you're hanging around with Keith Curtis?
Just walk around his garage and buy enough parts from him to put a sled together. You know he's got it laying around from all the aftermarket stuff he puts on.![]()
