Ditto on both counts. I'll never run a sled with coils again, floats are sick.

As for the towing, make some friends with sleds or get rid of some friends!

When you get rid of the ropes, a world of better terrain opens up.

    Agreed D-Side. (on both accounts)

However, Buff Pass sets up soooo good for towing I don't mind doing it there....a ton of skiing that you can access via towing. I realize this place is the exception, not the rule...

Excited to get out with some people that have sleds of there own!!!

EDIT: Fox Floats are in the future, just not this year. I've had a seriously expensive month. I'd rather just put different springs on my coil overs and rebuild them with different oil weight/shim stack as you can do with the "x" package.

Looking for some advice on a 2 place trailer setup for my Mountain Cat 159" and dfinn's Yamaha Nytro 162". Is there any reason I shouldn't go with a 8' x 10' tilt trailer? Sleds might hang off just a bit.

Also my sled doesn't have reverse, is it going to be a pain rolling it off? Should I just bite the bullet and go with a v-nose drive on/off trailer?

Nope. Seemed like it would be counterproductive since my main purpose is riding tandem. Maybe I'm wrong.

I hear taking out your swaybars is the fist step to quitting skiing.

Pancake, sweet shots! Dang, all you BC and Rocky Mt people are making me whiney. We have a little bit of riding like that around here, but it's mostly illegal (wilderness area). They're getting pretty tight on enforcing it too, and the penalties are high (up to $5k and jail time).

I'm itching to road trip to N. CO or BC, maybe MT.

Unless you are getting the tilt for close to free get the v-nose. Moving a sled by hand is never fun. The v-nose should have better options for wheels/tires as well. In UT you now have to register single axel trailers if they weigh more than 1200lbs (might be 1500). Some v-nose exceed this weight limit.

Tilt deck + no reverse = Pain in the ass. Maybe not too bad if it's a light sled and you have plastic ski runners to keep the skis pointing straight ahead. Generally though, pain in the ass.

Pickup deck is ideal. Enclosed trailer is good but spendy. Drive-on/Drive-off trailer is good. Tilt is last resort in my mind.

got a 8x10 tilit currently for my 08 RMK w/ the 155" track and it fits front to back w/ pretty much no overhang. New sled has reverse so no biggie but the old RMK didnt have it and it was a pain in the butt some days. Do not pay more than a couple hundy for a tilt - mine was a yacht club and it ran me something like 350 a few years back. If I hadnt spent the extra $$ for the newer sled this winter I'd be sporting a drive on/off. check the listings on KSL for trailers

Funny, I think tilt is easy as hell...but I HAVE REVERSE. (electronic reverse)

Otherwise, I can see it being a bit of a pain getting it off.

Main reason I went with tilt is it doubles as a sick raft trailer in the summer...and is lighter than any other trailer out there.

I have an 07 rev and took the sway bar out. A bit dodgy on the trail but I ride trail just to get to the alpine so I just take it easy.

However, the sled is a lot more fun on the mountain. Easier to lay over and sidehill.

I think riding your sled in good powder and being able to carve those turns is the first step to quit skiing especially if you have limited opportunity to go out on powder day like me.

I will be towing with an 01 Cherokee 4.0 AT, adding a tranny cooler. I think lighter is going to be my friend with this rig. Leaning towards a tilt, I can pick up an 8 x 10 for $400. Plus can't I just tilt the trailer pull the sleds off just a bit and pull forward? Not much tugging involved?

This will be my 4th season out riding, and am really looking forward to it. Spent a good part of summer learning how to work on 2stroke motors and tuning up my ski doo. I usually ride Saturday & Sunday, and tend gravitate around the ridge, flats, or some secret sports off the K trail. I'm hoping to spend a bit more time this season on the shewin side of things before we loose the area, and finally make it up to Sanora Pass.

Yanked the sway bars out and bumped up the shock preload a notch on both of our revs first thing and haven't looked back.

If you are running the stock skis, they tend to want to dart a bit and it can be disconcerting. We upgraded the skis on our sleds to Simmons and that behavior went away. Otherwise, think riding a dirt bike. Position the bars up/forward, and stand. You might find that this makes it feel less "dodgy"...

Couldn't agree more! The only time you should be sitting on your sled is when it's not running.

No need for a v-nose. when you get to the trail head just partially jackknife the truck/trailer and ride them both off the front. Thats all we ever did at the shop I worked at in Laramie. Scary the first time, but never had any issues.

Picked up a v-nose for $700, couldn't go wrong. Can't really feel it behind the Cherokee, wondering how it will feel with 1000 more lbs on it.

he owes me 1 beer for every time I help him get un-stuck. I'm getting close to a 30 pack.
