Great advice to have a dedicated full face helmet for sledding. I also have trouble breathing when getting unstuck, even without the winter kit, so it usually comes off when things get hot.
And you’re not learning how to ride if you’re not getting stuck. But on the forestry road to the skintrack is nit the place to practice! Was out reviewing some areas today, well below treeline about 30km into the woods. Punched a trail up across a large creek at a pulled bridge, and got nice and buried on an old winter-built road that is mostly reforested. Damn sugar from cold dry spell made for a difficult dig out, but now the contract crews have a trail to get in with the trail sleds.
If father’s heart surgery goes well tomorrow, and Ullr finally smiles on us Thursday, I might even get out into the alpine this weekend.

First ride on the sled and oh boy it's a new level of fun. Explored alot of new terrain that wasn't possible on the 13 Summit.

I've been looking at mainly Summits given this is what most my friends ride...I'm thinking I want the larger engine/ larger track for off-the-trail ski access. What's a good-end-of-the-season price (ballpark) for a Summit SP 850?

2019 Ski-Doo Summit® SP 850 E-TEC ES 165 PowderMax Light 3.0 Black. Thats pretty much what you want to slay the sled ski. 3inch track and perfect tunnel length for deep pow and boondocking. Add in some belly protection and better shocks and your rocking for 14K. Thats like 10KUSD

Poor guy getting towed, I bet his arms were tired lol. If you're gonna tow a skier at least use a bike tire folded over like a sling around his butt and run the rope through a biner connecting the tube ends.

Couple of days up high. Not too disappointed. Got 2km from the truck stopped to secure loads on the sleds. My buddy on a rented 850 couldn't start the sled. Long fucking day, score a point for having my inreach. Texted guy and after a bunch of back and forth had a different sled to take up. Would come to find out it blew the top end. 2000km on a 19 850 doo.
Ended up with some blue sky and new snow. Buddy did well tandeming and making it down on his own without nailing rocks. I might be done for the sled season after that trip.

So I am back in Whistler next winter, I need to change up how I haul my sled around. Our place in Creeksid has underground parking, but the space we have is not big enough for our 2008 Tacoma double cab with the sled in the back, it is to long and to wide. I can park it outside, but spots are limited so no guarantee I can get one, last time I ended up renting an underground spot in the village, but that meant we ended up with two vehicles and I want to avoid that. So thinking I need to downsize the truck. Going back a generation in the Tacoma, or a Ford Ranger they are quite a bit narrower, If I could find a regular cab I’d save a couple of feet in length, Issue becomes that those trucks GVWR is quite a bit less than the new gen Tacoma, but I have seen plenty of old Tacoma’s running around Whistler with sleds, and it appears that they are (just) capable of handling the weight. Thinking I could change one of these to a flat deck and save a bit more weight, as well as end up with something specifically designed for a sled.

What I really want is one of these: Toyota HiAce, but they are as rare as hens teeth compared to the usual kei trucks



Any other suggestions?

Those zukis are cool, saw a couple in Niseko last winter with summit 174s in the back.

Buddy had an older Toyota with flat deck and it worked fine.
