Yes definitely. Worth the $125 a year. Accidents happen and they Progessive pays for sled and trailer if needed.

Agreed with Simple. Sled insurance is a must. Foremost premium is higher than Progressive at $325 for me, but they paid out full price on my friends totaled sled.

Anyone leave there sled on their truck full time for the winter? I dont have much space so its currentyl been on there for a few weeks. Its a beater truck so not too worried about it, but what kind of risks are involved to the truck.
Any tips for tiedowns freezing etc?
No different than carrying any load for extended periods. Wear and tear and fuel economy type stuff. My summit lives in the back of my taco, which has extra leafs so it sits level. Higher COG on shitty roads if it's also your dd and the sled is on a deck.
For securing, if you have a raised deck get superclamps. Seriously. So much better than straps.
My sled has been in the back of my Taco the last three winters. Last year I rented a spot in one of the underground Whistler parkades so it melted off between trips. This year parking outside again. Just try to clear the bed/deck of snow whenever you unload the sled to keep ice build up down. I have airbags to keep things level and support the rear.
Was a great one yesterday.

Respect for missing the little pine.
At least it didn't take you long to dig to ground during extraction attempts.
Would have just rolled it if that damn tree wasn't there. 20 minute solo stuck, worst of the day. Not bad.

I had the rear shock on my old 04 cavitate coming out of sale, luckily it didn't lock like that. Once it cooled I was able to pull up enough and it reset. That sucks if that happened out far!

UPDATE: 10 a.m.
The search continues for a missing snowmobiler caught in an avalanche near Invermere.
Columbia Valley RCMP say two men from a group of nine snowmobilers were swept away by the avalanche on Saturday. One man was killed, and the other is presumed deceased.
The avalanche was reportedly triggered after one of the snowmobilers from Calgary was high marking, RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said in a press release.
Columbia Valley Search and Rescue recovered the 51-year-old victim, who was flown to confirmed deceased after being airlifted to hospital in Invermere.
The missing sledder, a 24-year-old male from Calgary and the son of the first victim, is believed to have been swept into a lake.
The RCMP’s Underwater Recovery Team was called in Sunday and will continue searching today.
No injuries were reported to the other seven snowmobilers.
