    What skis should I buy??

I'm skiing on the 2008 Volkl Gotamas right now and like them. However, I'm looking for something a little beefier underfoot and something that shreds powder AND crud even better than the Gotamas. I demoed the Rossi Scratch Steeze last year which are a little stiffer (I think I actually liked that) and thought they were awesome. I love shredding powder, going very fast, and I actually like crud (the kind that practically rips your legs off when you're shredding it) almost as much. I need something that can get it done on harder pack snow and be > than 105 mm underfoot.

Skis I'm looking into but don't know enough about -

    - K2 Hellbent
    - Rossignol S7 Caballero
    - Rossignol S6 Koopman ( similar to the Steeze )
    - Line Sir Francis Bacon
    - Armada ANT Pro
    - Armada JJ
    - Salomon Czar
    - 2008 Volkl Katana

    I need your input!!!!!

    Thanks guys.

P.S. Wasatch mtns. here in Utah are supposedly going to get hammered this weekend! Gonna try and get some turns in on Sunday

    These of course:

The Total Contact Suspension of the Anton Gliders applies consistent pressure on the tip and tail providing extraordinary stability and control. Anton Gliders make carving effortless. In addition, independent front and rear progressive flex adjusters give the limited edition Carbon Series multiple personalities. Dial in a forgiving cruiser or rip it up with a stiff racer.

Thinking about it, and given what those horrors represent, has anyone yet cut to the chase and built a totally circular powder ski? Reverse-reverse raidially symmetrical, wax up a couple of pudding bowls and rip. Ideal for hucking, fuckall steering. A perfect quiver pair to complement Anton Gliders

How much do you weigh? Height? Where do you ski? What other skis have you liked/ disliked? Got to give info about yourself to get responses. And it also helps to post up some nekid pics of your gf around here.

Best bet is to demo. Only way your gonna get a feel of these things. I am looking to buy a flat to rockered ski this next season, but plan to demo as much variety as I can to see what I prefer.

Are you looking to replace or compliment your Goats? You sound like you want a skki for soft, deep and harder packed snow. Kind of overlap with your current get up. If you want to blast through pow and crud, look at a stiffer rockered tip ski. If you are looking to surf pow, go softer with a fuller rocker.

Alright, currently I'm on 183 cm Gotamas. My height is 5'9" and weight is 170 lb - 180 lb. A little back story, I broke one of my Gotamas last year just from carving in crud - literally that was it. They split it at the front of my binding. I guess I'm pretty hard on skis. I really enjoyed the Rossi Scratch Steeze, they were a little wider and felt stiffer. They also seemed to handle the crud and hard pack a little better than the Goats (but, that could have been my imagination as I skied both on different days so I didn't get a same day comparison. So, what skis are similar to the Steeze, that are >= 110 mm under foot? I know the Rossignol S6 Koopman is basically the same as the Steeze, however I'm looking to get a little bit of a deal on the skis, and want to find something slightly discounted if possible which the this years S6 Koopmans are not. I was looking at the Line Sir Francis Bacons and last year's Katanas but am worried that they may not ski like the Steeze ( ie. as stiff ). Thoughts??

    SFB = Soft
Katana= Flat camber, good addition to a quiver definitely not a one ski to rule them all

But you could have learned all of that from a quick use of the search function.

well, the OBVIOUS contenders for a beefier goat are:

    -dynastar xxl
    -movement goliath
    -volkl katana

the nod goes to the xxl and goliath for versatility, and the katana does a bit better in the soft. all will be in the same vein as the gotama and steeze, but will be considerably beefier (not INSANELY beefier, though... all will still be pleasantly maneuverable)

Have you looked at the scott p4. I picked up a pair of 191's and haven't tried yet, but I understand it is a cheaper but potentially better skiing gotama. They hand flex a bit stiffer and are slightly wider throughout. I am anticipating these to ski very well in pow. At least compared to my LP's. Post a thread in gear swap and you should be able to get these new unmounted for no more than $300-350.
