I know all about it. "The power ends when the elbow bends." There are a couple mantras and cues that I use, but I inevitably start bending as I fatigue. I've been trying to focus on my back, shoulders, traps, neck, etc... really just trying to trick myself into forgetting that I even have arms.
Although some increased hip mobility/strength wouldn't really hurt me either!

I had the most unpleasant experience of having my SI joint crack during a deadlift. I was sure I was going to be in a world of hurt for a while but got away with just a little soreness. I've been cracking my SI joints lately so I guess I've compromised their stability. Time to quit and I should probably do the same for my neck as well. It just feels so damn good.

I have no formal education or training on this, but I'm pretty sure that's a bad thing and could lead to really bad things.

    Monday was tough:
    100 pull ups
    100 push ups
    100 sit ups
    100 squats
    For time

    Today was fun:
Partners, one does a round while the other rests
    3 rounds each of
    10 snatches 115/75
    300m sprint row

then split the reps with your partner, one works while the other rests:
    60 knees to elbows
    60 kettle bell swings, overhead
    60 ring rows
All I know is that I don't know nothin'... and that's fine.

I'm absolutely shot from this morning:

10 Dumbell burpees with 50's (if you don't know what these are, trust me - you don't want to...)
1 Clean and Jerk at 135
    10 Squat Thrusters at 135

    Then 9/2/9, 8/3/8, etc, etc until you're at 1/10/1, then 1000 m. run.

50 minute cap time, and I baaaaarely made it.

^^that's awesome^^I wish I was worthy of training there.

todays crossfit WOD was modified from ring dips/pull up to 10 muscle ups. why I did that I don't know...the hell i'm superman. and I thought I started my timer...but i guess I didn't. the time was painful.

    For time:
    Run 800 meters
    10 rounds of the couplet:
    Pull-up, 10 reps
    Ring dip, 10 reps
    Run 800 meters

Holy crap. It would've taken me 5 or 6 days to do 100 muscle ups. And that's a whole lot of running for a CF WOD.

edit... duh. Just realized that it was only 800M before and after the couplet... not each round.

    800m run
every minute on the minute until you cannot complete a set
    1 x 165# dl
    1 burpee
increase by one every minute (did 7 rounds, but think this could be a really good 10-12 minute workout if you go a bit lighter on the dl)
    800m run

    5 x 5 push jerk scaled from 135# to 185#

I make a shake with bananas, blueberries, and frozen cherries with chocolate protein powder for breakfast every day.

There are a lot of different kinds of protein (whey, egg, soy). You'll get a lot of different opinions on which is best, but the general consensus seems to be that whey isolate is most effective for CF.

I'm currently using this guys products pre-wod. Specifically the Elite Athlete Recovery Fuel and the Pro 3 Synergy Fuel. The owner is a crossfitter and lives just down the street from me. Good guy with good products. He's starting to get some traction in the CF community. I use a more generic whey isolate post-wod.

    Dude consistently brings teh funneh.

Other than PT stuff I've been on a bit of a break after having to pull the plug on my 100-miler a couple weeks ago. I need to get out of my failure funk and get back at it. I did get 21 bar dips while at the park with my son last week though. Probably could have grunted out 1 or 2 more, but 21 was a PR and a nice number so I called it there. Pretty happy to hit 20+.

If you're not a professional athlete then cheap is probably good enough, IMO. You're most likely not pushing the limits of your diet or protein intake like someone who works out for a living. Using it in a recovery drink will probably give you the greatest benefit. Personally, I just go for a jug of chocolate milk.

Never underestimate the power of the placebo effect.

Hit a PR today, used the 100lb DB's for RFES, 8 reps. Was feeling pretty good about myself until I saw a 16 year old doing single leg squats with 135lbs I know these kids are all fairly elite, but I don't remember the elite being this strong when I was in highschool.

It has been proposed that placebos be banned from professional sport.

As a fat, out of shape person, protein shakes are what enables me to get out of bed in the morning. There is a HUGE difference in how sore I am the next day when I drink one. I do 1 cup of skim milk, 1 cup of frozen mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries), 1 banana, and 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder (27 grams of PRO per scoop). I usually have two of these a day. Life saver.

    Today's WOD: Annie
    50-40-30-20-10
Double Unders (triple for singles, which I had to do)
    Situps
    for time, I got 15:44

[QUOTE=jibij;3613209]Holy crap. It would've taken me 5 or 6 days to do 100 muscle ups. [QUOTE]

not executed perfectly. I think by 36 I was dropping down after 1 rep, screaming, then jumping up to the rings and using the momentum to carry me through. So, call me out if the purest want to. But I said 100, and I was not going to quit or revise my numbers. I would receipt a few qoutes that coach posted, and I have written on the wall for reminder to not be a nancy:

"There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results." - Ken Blanchard

Pain is temporary but Quitting is forever [and I hurt]

    4/12:

    Jackie - modified, for time
    1000 meter row [don't have a rower, so 100 sumo dead lifts w/ high pull @ 95#]
    Thruster @ 95#, 50 reps
    Pull-ups 30 reps

    21 minutes.

RE: Whey. Whey, IMHO, is great if you need a quick fix. I prefer whole foods [not the store], un-processed foods...you know...BACON. that being said, I like to mix my whey w/ whole milk, flax seed and cacao powder, sometime w/ peanut butter. or blender w/ forzen blue berries and flax seed.

That's all fine and dandy until you blow out a shoulder or incur some other pointless injury. The "death before DNF" mantra needs to, well, die.
