The final episode made up from in the can footage aired a week or so ago in UK (and does here on BBCAmerica next Week?).
Kind of lame, two old car challenge segments both have the feel of stuff they've done before (at least once) and both seem very unfinished/polished. Hammond and May briefly present films in bizarre "he's not here but we can't mention why" manner.
I still call it The Jake.
the elephant in the room.
Heard that the BBC executives that axed Clarkson are under a lot of heat now for killing the golden goose.

Office politics. They wanted him gone for awhile. I've seen it happen on a much smaller scale where the top sales person got axed by some bitter person that was above them on the pyramid but made far less $ for personal reasons. The whole thing was handled the wrong way. They tried to make an example of him . They could have kept it in house and paid the producer a large sum of money to never talk about it.

Bit more to it than that. The BBC is nearly like civil service... at least in terms of management, oversight, financial control. There just isn't the mechanism to write a check to a disgruntled (punched) employee to protect a profit center.
In this situation it's a pity there isn't. But in many others that system protects it from commercial pressures that other broadcasters/media can't.
Former 'Top Gear' trio deal with Amazon represents a new era for Clarkson, Hammond, and May
And also rumors that Jenson Button is in talks with BBC about co-hosting their "new" top gear.

LOL - posted via the app & it landed on its own page so I I never saw that
I do wish Netflix had picked it up since I already pay for that
The BBC get to keep the Stig?
Huh. I guess it will suck not having the STIG to do hot laps in a new car each week and the varying roles he has in challenges, but I should just be happy that the three presenters will carry on together doing what we love watching them do.

They should just dress up Chris Harris to do the hot laps, take a piss out of the BBC.
So, the BBC has released a pair of "Best of Jeremy" episodes, shamelessly extolling the value that the "Big JC" brought to the show. Watching it now, and the voiceover is completely obnoxious. As though it's the viewership that needed convincing about Jeremy's impact on the programmmmmmmeeeeeee.
Did I spell that correctly?
Apparently Amazon upped the budget to something like $7 million per episode up from $1.5 at BBC. They're also paying The orangutan $46 million for 3 years. Big payday.
