A higher res shot of the Shoots profile. It is a bit misleading though, measured camber is 1,2cms, in the pic it looks to be more.

    FYI: These are protos.

I like the 0 camber/ rocker, more than recurve & stiff. depends on what you ski. If you want a hard charging, straight line, more verstaile type, go with Shoots. If you mostly ski soft snow, I would go with the Mavens. For me, I would go w/ Maven. You are comparing apples to oranges.

    I went with the Mavens, hoping I won't regret crazy-fat over crazy-stiff...

I like my skis like I like my women, I guess???

This thread intrigues me, and I'm surprised there isn't more commentary.

In philosophy, don't they call a question like this a "fallacy of bifurcation"? In other words, one allows their mind to believe that they are limited to one of two choices, when several other alternatives actually exist.

With the Shoots, it is going to be money for straightlining or way too stiff and burly for smaller folks. Think the initial Squad and XXL purchases and then consequent mass dumping with 1-2 days on snow we saw a year or two back.

With the Maven, I get worried that they'll be too big and awkward.

Although I must admit, the attractive price has tempted me, too.

Well I just got the shoots and I'm 5'10 135ish...

I think they might be a little much, but for $400, I'm willing to take the chance. I ski ANTs and LP's every non-pow day though, so I'm probably going to ski these on the day after storms or on storm days where I want to straightline things with an EHP on steroids. They should be a great Squaw ski for the day after storms to cut up the crud and mank.

Too overuse the phallus reference one more time, the Shoot appear to be far from flacid.

5`10 135.. drink a gallon of milk a day and do 5x5 heavy squats 3 times a week. Just kidding, respect to ride those sticks at your size, I`m same height but have 65 pounds on you and ride ANTs, love em and would love Shoots but I decided on EHPs (bit lighter, with Dukes).

Was going to get mavens but then decided that the 185 praxis is lighter and more tour able, more proven, and probably better for tight trees and sun or wind affected snow. So I opted for those instead. Stoked.

Some may want to be considering where they ski before even discussing such topics.

I ordered Mavens for Japan's trees.

If i still lived in Tahoe... I'd be all over the Shoots. However, the Shoots would be a fricking nightmare in 4 feet of fluff in tight trees.

*This is just a friendly reminder that these threads and polls are absolute crap.

For me, it's a tree-ski... that's its niche, imo. (not that I've ridden it yet.)
