Good catch... though it's officially just "rumor" at this point. Oh, and it is reported to "dilute" the common stock, while "company debt and preferred shares, would be protected by the government."
Also, the Real Estate Crash Thread (now on page 38) has been churning thru this as it builds up... come comment there too.If some of the best times of my life were skiing the UP in -40 wind chill with nothing but jeans, cotton long johns and a wine flask to keep warm while sleeping in the back of my dad's van... does that make me old school?

Huh? Socialists, where???
So the public stock holders (certainly capitalists's by ANY definition, no?) get their investments in the Federal Home Loan Mortgage CORPORATION (a publicly traded security) wiped out by a market crash (again, certainly raw capitalism happening in a capital market) of the private real estate market (again, private owners of real estate certainly NOT a socialist thing - so I'll call private ownership of real estate a capitalist concept).
So... THEN the Bush Administration steps in and basically nationalizes the public's ownership portion of this Corporation, however leaves in place the existing large corporate ownership portions of it. Fuck... Blurred, I don't think that's "Socialism"... seems maybe closer to Fascism to me? But hey, I'm no expert.If some of the best times of my life were skiing the UP in -40 wind chill with nothing but jeans, cotton long johns and a wine flask to keep warm while sleeping in the back of my dad's van... does that make me old school?

Socialists causing a credit bubble? Blurred have you ever worked in bank, not a bank branch as a teller, I mean a huge corporation, working in the engine room or on the bridge? You have no idea what caused this problem. The fact that the 'solution' has been to socialise the mess indicates that capitaism failed you at the street level.
Life is not lift served.

You misunderstand.
Capitalism promises opportunity. Socialism promises you protection from failure.
Business failures are an expected(and necessary) part of capitalism just as death is a necessary part of life. So to say that the failure of a business is proof that capitalism failed shows that you don't properly understand capitalism and are viewing it through the eyes of socialism.it's all young and fun and skiing and then one day you login and it's relationship advice, gomer glacier tours and geezers.

I'm going to start a business selling Cadillac Escalades to dirt poor Mexicans.
I won't check their credit, I'll just take a $1000 down payment, and charge them
$200 a month for the first year. Then after a year, that payment will go to, oh lets say $700 a month. I'll keep the initial down payments on the 1000 Escalades I sold, plus the $200 a month on each vehicle....I'll then just stuff the money in an offshore bank account, and threaten to declare bankruptcy when the dealership comes asking for their money when the time comes that all of the mexicans can't make their payment.......but that's cool, cuz the government will bail me out with your tax dollars. Corporate socialism rules!

As I was saying before some fucking thing happened with TGR--Adveres, or whatever the fuck you name is--was that your doing? This is single most stooooopid post (perhaps I overstate) I've seen on TGR. So, socialists created the Fredie/Franny shitstorm, I think not, stud.

He wouldn't mind...
But first, should mention that;
The phrase is actually "reap what you sow"...
This is "sew";
Even this;
But this is "sow";
Though these days it looks like this;
Neener, neener...
You willing to take me on regards the "socialist" comment?If some of the best times of my life were skiing the UP in -40 wind chill with nothing but jeans, cotton long johns and a wine flask to keep warm while sleeping in the back of my dad's van... does that make me old school?

i changed the spelling on it before your gay post...too bad they both read 4:36.
As far as "taking you on", as much as I'd like to see Rainbow Bright in full on pasting steeze, it's clear that ALL American taxpayers paying for a corporations
failures is socialism.Last edited by BlurredElevens; 09-06-2008 at 10:43 PM.
