good to know. there was 1 car when I drove over at ~7:30am and it was 10 degrees. it looked good but probably a sucker day b/c I'm guessing with the cold storm on top of bare dirt/rock you'd be punching right through. just looking for some first hand accounts. I hope we get a warm trend sometime and don't get fukt with a cold, dry unconsolidated layer at the bottom.

Yeah, I did enough damage to my bases at the resort yesterday (and a little more this AM), I'm gonna wait for a little more snow before I head up that way.

Ohhhh right, it was one of SCUTSKI's friends that boards. Hey, you saw how wasted drunk I was that night Yeah, PM me. I do the AT&T crap so my phone will work there.

I'll be out there on my snowboard with a TNF daypack with shovel and grey Bern Baker helmet - either cayenne Patagucci shell or black Cloudveil shell depending on weather.

I had better change the batteries in the beacon now, it looks deep there

Plenty of nice knee/thigh deep turns to be had today. And COLD. Bring your rock skis and a helmet. Lots of sharks lurking in the deep.

Just as a side note, while at Kirkwood, I was not getting any 3G signal on AT&T, only EDGE. I thought a guy made sure all of that was working?

Bear Valley got about 36" out of the weekend's storm series as of yesterday afternoon - there had to be more last night and today. Still needs to fill in quite a bit, but the skiing was great yesterday. Lots to hit - be careful....

Hit lots of rocks going through places that were marked "closed" but could be entered around the side of the ropes. Coverage on the officially "open" runs was pretty good; didn't hit anything there.

    Axioms = durable rock skis.
    LIAR! BLASPHEMER!

I farmed turns on Un-per Ramsey 9.15-1.30 knee deep fresh feathers. I was found out at about 1.30, then I left at 2.30. Good times.

    okbye

Break in that Patagucci and start whoring for the camera. I should be around Friday, but need to head out around 1:30. Damn holiday parties...

If anyone is going to be around Thursday, I'll be tooling around with a single planker. Should be in the easy to see grey coat/black pants. Look for a maroon helmet bobbing above the snow. Hope they hold 10 until Thursday...

At Monte Wolf's on Sunday mine kept popping back and forth between Edge and 3G.

No. Upper Ramsey was closed. BUT, if you skied in the cut out they have for making snow just below the UR entrance you can traverse through the trees to the catwalk that leads to UR. I figure since I didn't use the entrance, and I was innocently looking for turns elsewhere and ended up there it was kosher-ish. Snow was great, and having it to myself most of the day made the experience really spectacular. Even though it was only 4 or 5 turns for that short time it was all mine! I now understand why people are protective of their special places (no pun intended).

    okbye

EDIT: Oh, I get it. No, I was followed by people who saw me go there from the lift who subsequently ruined it. No run-ins with patrol.

fun at Squaw turns to tradegy.

I just heard on a local bay area new station that three young women were found dead in a snow buried car near the resort in the valley at 1pm today. They were reported from Marysville.

    Condolences and RIP.

sorry to put a downer on this thread.

    edit for news article

Thanks for putting that up pj ... hopefully people here and elsewhere can learn something from this rather unfortunate event.

Should be working on 3G, just talked to an RF engineer that said it's working...so I don't know what's up.

If you're bouncing, it's because the 850 GSM signal is stronger than the 1900 UMTS (3g) signal.

I'm on a modification project to optimize sites for the iPhone. Since that one just came on-air, it hasn't been modded yet.

Next time you're at the lodge, PM me what signal you get. Should be full 3g.

Schralph, you're thinking of my buddy Matt with the board.

That CO incident is incredibly tragic. Wow. I bet my brother knew those girls. So random and horrible.

As for warm/wet stuff, talking about subtropical undercutting starting Sunday night into Tuesday for our next solid shot of precip (Thursday/Friday should just be showery). I hope we get heavy Sierra snot.
