The only thing I have got out of this thread so far is that Big Balls was right about the snow.

noicely done p-dork. those trax of which ye spoke in the left mainline shot were mine. looks like this next storm will make that rd undrivable so good on ya for gettin out there while u still can. looks like i'll be unemployed next week so holler if ya wanna get after it. u2 bcr. i'm hoping to ski just about everyday so looks like my joblessness will come at just the right time.

i took the ltcc course but not the asi course but for that price difference u cant go wrong at ltcc. and i think they are both aaire classes so they should have the same curriculum. personally i didnt get much out of avy 1, but only cause i've been doing this stuff for awhile. and the avy 1 is a prereq for avy 2 which i'm hoping to take soon. the avy 2 class fills up rediculously fast though so i'm not holding my breath.

soooo, anyone want to get after it midweek next week???? prolly mostly skiing in tahoe area unlesss the eastside gets a lot more then us. in which case i'll be daytripping down there.

CAUTION that links loads 18 camera streams if your PIPE is not fat enough you might have problems

    http://dima.brandtshaft.com/TGR/CalTrans.htm

To make it work on a regular connection I would suggest stopping at least half the streams.
Also some cameras will fail to load because CalTrans might be doing work on them or they just crapped out.

    Maybe best post ever!

I skipped going solo storm skiing today and decided to mix records instead

Anyway, a nice consistent stream of snow for the last two hours at the lake.

I received about 1-2" at my house.

You guys are going to slay on Monday and Tuesday. I am anti-jinxing it:

Monday I have to drive and work at a hospital in Susanville.
Tuesday I have to hit three hospitals in rural CA: Portola, Quincy, and Chester.

definitely snowing on the passes today, just a couple inches over spooner but KW got 8" (firsthand beta from Ottime). Good news is it wasn't as light as originally expected, but it's getting colder tomorrow ...

^^^ Yikes! I thought I had a good connection and a fast computer, but my system didn't like the Dima's link I'm not going to attempt that one.

I don't know what's going on in Tahoe this week, but if it's good I'm going to come back for a day of skiing. Is anyone planning on being at Squaw or Rose on Tuesday?

    okbye

when did oBernhard get this job?
LOCALLY RUN WRF ALONG WITH GFS SHOW PERIODS OF HEAVIER PCPN PULSES THROUGH THIS EVENT. FIRST PULSE IS SUN AFTN/EVNG THEN ANOTHER LATE MON DAY NIGHT THEN ANOTHER MONDAY AFTN. ANOTHER PULSE IS NOTED LATE MONDAY NIGHT BUT A BREAK ENSUES BETWEEN THE THIRD AND THIS LAST PULSE. THESE PULSES ARE ASSOCIATED WITH VORT LOBES ROTATING THROUGH THE FLOW AND SHOULD PRODUCE THE BULK OF THE ACCUMULATING SNOWS. ECMWF REMAINS THE MOST AGGRESSIVE WITH QPF AMOUNTS AND THE OPERATIONAL GFS IS ONLY SLIGHTLY UNDER THE ECMWF. THE 18Z NAM CAME IN WETTER THAN PREVIOUS RUNS BUT LOCALLY RUN WRF IS A BIT DRIER THAN MOST. QPF AMOUNTS WILL BE MUCH LOWER EAST OF THE SIERRA THOUGH. MLF LONG TERM...WEDNESDAY-SATURDAY... ACTIVE PATTERN IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE INTO THE LAST WEEKEND BEFORE CHRISTMAS. TELECONNECTIONS BASED ON LATEST MEAN 500 HEIGHT ANOMALIES SHOW A STRONG RIDGE OVER ALEUTIANS...WHICH CORRELATES TO ABOVE NORMAL PRECIP FOR CA/OR/WRN NV AND FRIGID ARCTIC AIR IN THE NRN CONUS. UPPER TROF EXPECTED TO BE SWINGING THRU THE AREA WEDNESDAY PER A CONSENSUS OF GFS/NAM/NAEFS. THERE IS DECENT UNCERTAINTY IN THE PROGRESSION OF THE TROF...

Its a bit much bandwidth so maybe try to brake it up into 3 pages or something. Basically its all the feeds from here:
    http://video.dot.ca.gov/
for Tahoe Area + Kirkwood Cam

What do you guys thing would be good? (3 -7 per page)
    1) Kirkwood + Southlake (50)
    2) I80 to tahoe
    3) Tahoe City, Squaw, Northstar etc...

Or maybe some cams are pointless....

Did they just increase the snow forecast for tonight/tomorrow? I think that's the first time that has happened since '05-06.

Havign not spent a season in Tahoe before, which area would most likely get the best terrain open off of 2' of snow?
