    Anyone else hate Ticketmaster?

    Those guys are tha suk......

    Two $15 tickets = $30.

Convenience fees, processing fee, ticket delivery fee (which means I can print them using my computer/printer/paper = $26.50

    $56.50 for $30 in tickets.

Show postponed to another date. Refund $50. So not only do these assholes upcharge 40%+ but then they don't give full refunds.

Time spent trying to get refund. 45 fucking minutes.

Why the hell is it legal for them to scalp tickets?

DAMN! I didn't know that, but I should have expected it.
I hate them even more now. How this thieving business is allowed to operate, I'll never fucking understand. Those sleazeballs stand for nothing but laziness and greed.

Partial solution: use American Express and you'll get a full refund.

Not sure how a class action suit hasn't been initiated yet on their excessive fees, but the fact that these fees have continued to rise exponentially in recent years only shows they are getting away with something and know how to protect themselves against any kind of backlash.

Equally worse is that venues do this today when purchasing tickets in person. If a ticket is $20, why do you get an additional $5.50 for doing your fucking job? (edit- I'm assuming it's to limit scalping)

And they dont even do anything. If someone can tell me one thing that they actually provide, service or tangible, I'd like to know. Any Rockies fans out there remember the shit that this company put everyone through last year for WS tickets?

And how is it that Ticketmaster isn't recognized as a monopoly? I've read that they control 90% of all ticket sales and they certainly use that ability to fuck a customer over with 3 types of surcharges.

Because only Pearl Jam has stood up and tried to do something about it. And they were past their radio prime when they finally did. Imagine if a few of todays big groups said enough is enough. what I can't figure out is why MLB, NFL, NBA use their services. You'd think they'd have the capital and the desire to keep that extra income inhouse.

See my "tickets.com math" thread for a similar rant.

I have since solved my frustration with ticketmaster/tickets.com upcharges by simply not buying tickets from venues or by performers who give you no option other than to use one of these "services" to get tickets. I quit.

I'll get them from the homeys, off craigslist, barter, ebay, whatever. Since I find paying "convenience fees" decidedly inconvenient, I have chosen the "just say no" route. While occasionally that may mean not attending at all, that's perfectly alright by me.

I've even seen them charge a fee just to pick up tickets at will call. No delivery, no service whatsoever other than YOU standing in line for 30 minutes and they STILL make you pay extra? Nope, not in my world.

what was the end result? a mostly empty venue
Call and get an itemized printout. Ask for the representative's name as well as their supervisor. Provided it's not state sales tax, and they can't give you a straight answer tell them you want the $6.50 refunded or you'll be contacting the state's DOR/taxation office.

    And follow through.

Just bought 6 tickets at $49.50 each. Total came out to $383.00. So $85.00 worth of fees and whatnot. Sucks

I'd love to see TM out of business. Bought two $36 tickets recently and paid over $100. Fuckers. There was no other way to get the tickets. I filled out their survey and told them what I thought of their excessive fees.
In drove this drunken madman and stopped on a dime! Unfortunately the dime was in Mr. Rococo's pocket!

    Yes, I hate ticketmaster.
But I will admit, since I was young, I've been intrigued by that Jeannie-Master thing.

With the blink of an eye, it could work wonders in this scenario.

    ticketmASSter.

What I miss most is when fans who fucking gave 2 shits about the game, concert, whatever, were rewarded by camping out all night at the venue box to get tickets for whatever event it was they cared about. Now you pay scalpers or you pay ticketmaster, since every major show is sold out 2 days before it goes on sale online anyways. I don't like that ticketmaster can have inside sales to brokers, friends, scalpers, or whoever the hell they feel like before actual public onsale dates.

There is still one music venue in San Francisco where you can't buy tickets online and you have to wait in the cold for a good 2 hours to find out if you'll even get in. It's easy to bitch about when you're in line, but fuck - I kind of like it that way. We need some holdout venues *somewhere* who still have some dignity about them.

I was pleasantly surprised that the mets' own ticket office, 507tixx.com, was the sole broker for the billy joel last play at shea concert. they still charged me up the wazoo in fees, but at least the service was good - when i called with a problem, i had a real person in 90 seconds and he took care of me. plus it wasn't ticketmaster.. that means everything to me.

Just got back from doing the up east/visit family/summer vacation thing, and had to use ReserveAmerica.com for camping in Connecticut. Even though there was an office staff to check you in, all changes in stay had to be done through RA, with an additional $6 fee per transaction. Its no longer even possible to drive in, snag an open site, fill out a pay envelope, and drop it in the secure tube. Bastards.

On the other hand, did the Mystic thing with the kids, and there in an online only, print them yourself, discount combo ticket. No extra "online" fees. Thanks for being reasonable.

As for TicketBastard, I've simply given up on bigname acts and events. Plenty of other things to see and do.

I just bought through Front Gate tickets and they only charged $8 in fees for two $25 tickets. It's a little sad when a 15% surcharge is a pleasant surprise, but there you go.

507tixx.com: Customer Service, how can I help you?

steve: I just bought tickets to Billy Joel. What was I thinking?

507tixx.com: You weren't, sir. I recommend you whistle to yourself through the entire performance.

steve: Thanks for taking care of me.
