I'm disturbed - BeanDip, care to explain?

I saw this posted somewhere on the board:
    http://reversecowgirlblog.blogspot.c...agiarizer.html

When I first read your blog I was inspired by everything you were accomplishing. Please tell me this is some sort of mistake.

    How did you find that?
People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

Maybe a phone call or pm would have been a better way to go about clearing this up.

I don't see anything good coming from this. The infraction is relatively mild and the poster being called out is really cool. I think it'd be best if this thread were deleted.

While I certainly don't think this is MAJOR, if I was a professional writer and someone was ripping my stuff off, I'd be pissed and rightfully so. We've seen a level of outrage here about photos being ripped off, why is this more mild than that?

I have no clue if this is true or not but my only disappointment would be that she didn't lift something from a more talented writer.

    I agree,

It was a snake move super sleuth. Let's see some creative work of yours and see how original you are?

Anyway what is original?... pretty much fuck all. Most of what we call culture has been copied, improved, ripped off, or influenced by someone else.

Shakespeare plagiarised Boccaccio's Decameron etc, etc,

I don't know anything about any of the people involved and have no stance on the facts of this situation.

I think plagiarism is not at all mild, it's a big deal, especially here on the internet where often all you have to go on are peoples' words. Plagiarism can be a way to get strangers on the internet to think you're really cool when you aren't. The theft of words can be as grave as the theft of posessions.
that's all i can think of, but i'm sure there's something else...

Oh boy a "call out" PM would have been nice, dude, but if you insist...

Basically I am the victim of some crazy stalker (hmm, any ideas? I have a few jilted ex-lovers) who are unhealthily obsessed with me, and have never let go or apparently moved on. From copious neverending amounts of mean (thinly veiled, i might add) comments on my blog all from the same anonymous person, to myspace, friendster and even linkedin messages, it's been really negative/overwhelming and I have to admit really saddening- I'm not mean spirited and tend to be pretty surprised and hurt when people reveal that side of themselves. It has also been scary because at times their harassment was threatening. For example, this person also somehow found my work number at my private equity firm (I guess through linkedin? I don't even know) and called me repeatedly, mostly just hanging up. At times they played some computer message over the phone which was a machine talking about all kinds of explicit nonsense (which normally I am down for, but not anonymously, not with a computer, and not with someone who is harassing me!).

Anyways, I have since made my blog private to deter this person, also made private my facebook and myspace, and just wish this psycho would "die in a fire."

That's about all I am going to say on this. I have PLENTY of muck to rake here but that is just not my style. I'm happy to talk to anyone about this further if you please, but I'd prefer to do it over the phone, in person preferably with beers present , or email. I am just done with supplying this crazy harasser with information for them to latch onto and never let go. I don't have anything to hide and ultimately I just want this psycho stalker out of my life.

SRSLY, I'm sure whatever the story is it's causing her enough grief and she's prolly got enough splainin' to do to people in the "real world" without getting dragged through the mud here too.

What's it to you anyway Snowslider? Pretty vindictive and petty to post about it here.

Agreen with TU, no good can come of this, delete the thread.

i make sure to plagiarize only those who are dead, so nobody can come back to me later after having found my "musings" while ego-surfing.

the board doesn't care. only a handful here can even read

I hope you didn't actually read the link before you said this. What you are saying is not valid here.

Yes, people take in ideas from others, digest them, and then generate their own ideas and put them out in the world. There's no sharp dividing line between this and stealing ideas of others and claiming them as your own. But the link's alleged plagiarism is clearly a case of the latter, not the former.
