Gonna be in Spokane next week for Far West Regionals. ( Soccer tourn) What's there to do as far as recreation (how's the fishing) between games. Any advice on restaurants, bars, etc. also appreciated.
There are a lot of lakes in the area; the big ones (Coeur d' Alene, Ponde O'reile and Priest Lake) are all in North Idaho, but it's just over the border. There are a ton of smaller lakes closer to town, it depends on what you like.
I like Liberty Lake (20 minutes East), but it has a lot of residential build up. You could try Loon, Newman, Long, Badger, Williams, or Fish Lakes. Just pick up an area map, there is a "sportsman's access" map you see at at lot of the gas stations/convenience stores that has quite a bit of topical info. Check out the White Elephant for dirt cheap bait, tackle, and supplies. There are a lot of cooler more remote lakes, but you'd probably need more time and info. There is always Riverside State Park just outside of town on the Spokane River.
Bars:
As for bars, again, I don't know what you like, but there is usually a lot of action downtown at Gabby's ( -Irish, across from the Ridpath Hotel) the Sattelite (funky), Blue Spark (live music, a little yuppy), Legends (sports -lots of flat screen tv's), Cyrus O'leary's ( great pies too!) or even Dempsey's (a mixed preferences crowd, [swingers, etc] but live cabaret and people watching). Anyway, those are all downtown and if you hit one, you can figure it out from there and ask around.
