I recorded that this morning while I was skiing.
Haven't gotten to it yet. But, personally think Rush touring as "Rush" without Neil is quite a bit different than The Stones touring as The Stones without Charlie.
They SHOULD absolutely keep working together but please not with some drummer 20 years younger than they are like Portnoy.. Grab Simon Phillips or Todd Sucherman when he's on break from Styx. Write 15 new songs and go on a limited tour.. play a set of Rush songs. but call the project something slightly different than Rush. Neil was 33% of the music and 100% of the lyrics from the 2nd album on. Not the same as The Who or even Zeppelin replacing someone who died at 27 or the Stones who had many different members coming and going on other instruments over the years.. If it's a band members own kid that's also different..Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

as one who first saw rush in a theatre in 1980 (and then front row at the garden in 81) i could live with terry bozzio on drums...or thomas lang....or a wild card like michael jerome from richard thompson's electric trio. he makes a small kit sound big. it would be good to see ged and alex do something more lean and rocking. no more backing tracks in their live shows! their stage sets got really ridiculous towards the end and i couldn't stand hearing geddy singing to his own backing tracks.
and yes, they should honor neil and come up with a new name for their next project if there is one. play a few rush tunes but i agree, emphasize new music. otherwise what's the point?Last edited by buckethead; 12-14-2023 at 07:43 PM.

a couple of 'later tunes - that hold up for me - to mid-catalogue.
farewell to kings was an early fave, then ATWAS...though my first exposure was when permanent waves came out.
deep cover. dorky vid but they sound great
and one they never played live . a return to alex's dirtier guitar sound - he started recording through an amp - as opposed to direct!
i was gonna say i absolutely hated that they played rtb every night since it came out. unbearable! didn't wanna insult op til i doubled back and saw he was a guest?! (test for echo was a horrible followup to counterparts' return to heaviness) how long has guest posting been possible?
jacob's ladder.

I am not a hard core Rush fan, did see them a couple of times and have respect. I am blown away by the number of people you would never expect to be fans.
Lisa Dejardins???? Never would have guessed it.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.
