What are you saying, that people use aliases on this board? That's unpossible.Originally posted by homerjay
Not defending him, but that may not even be J.L. who wrote that.
If it is indeed Jason who posted using his name (if it's not, that was utterly reprehensible) I would have to say that response was beyond unacceptable, ill-conceived, and was emotionally-based insults that serve no purpose whatsoever.
People, including wickedly-smartmouthed maggots who have the wallets and abilities to promote or rip a new product, want to know someone gives shit. About the products their company sells and about the people that buy it. They want to feel a loyalty. They want to recommend a product in good conscience. I would never buy a single product from any company whose feedback was of such a vile nature, especially from the top. In lieu of a good bitchslap, consumers know the boycott is the most effective means of protest in the commerical marketplace.
If I ever respond to any of you like that regarding a complaint about any product PM Gear has sold, you have my complete permission to tar and feather my ass, cause I'll deserve it.
I truly pray that was an impersonator. I can't believe Jason would post something like that in a public forum without considering the word would spread like wildfire and a possible boycott could be the ensuing result.
Rascal King - You profess to be in the know. Was it Jason?
So tell the class, JL ~ Are you sending Roo some new boards or not?

I've tried hard to be a good soldier for the Line army. It'd be a lot easier if the General didn't always act like such a douche.

I know, because I told him about this thread.
That being said, I can tell you that (his response aside) Jason is a very cool, maggotly dude. I think he was just (over)reacting to what he saw as unnecessary Line bashing.

Jason - your response might have been fit for the FREEZE forums, but not this place. The maggots, regardless of what your impression might be, tend to be quite well-educated and savvy. In re-reading roo's thread, he praised your product far more than he bashed it. This audience would expect a response becoming the president of a company, not a street punk defending his turf.
i only hope jason thinks it was worth it.Originally posted by Rascal King
Jason just burned all you guys, hahahaha, tooo funny.
i don't know whether to laugh or throw up.
But the only "bashing" came once people started talking about their interactoions with the Company. As far as the comments made about their product, it was largely positive.Originally posted by Dexter Rutecki

Note: I applaud Splat for his comments. It's THAT attitude that creates a buzz and keeps people coming back.

I remember Tim Petrick throwing some free skis in Tom's direction not becuase he broke his K2's, but becuase he was broke, in cham, and skiing crazy shit on a 6 yr old pair of beat up force 9s with no edges or something. Now that is goodwill.
And let's not forget who made the suggestion to him...

I have similar story of awesome maggot goodwill. Pretty much the single coolest action ever made towards me. I am going to bed now though, it will have to wait until another day. In fact, I think I will save it for the hottest day of summer when everyone here needs cheering up. Anyway, rest assured, it is very, very cool.Originally posted by monster dump.

You've got to be kidding me.
I've always been a huge fan of Line's product and what they're trying to do for our sport, but the attitude is just crap. It sounds insecure and childish. I really hope it was an alias then I hope the alias get's hit by a car. If it's not an alias, all he did was reconfirm what Roo, 3o3, and myself all mentioned. We've all been huge fans of Line's products, but the attitude is pure garbage.
I agree with DM. I have a pair of Pollards and they are the best skis i've ever had. But lines attitude is total crap. If it was JL, dude your skis kick ass no matter what anyone says. Your attitude is lame.
“When I die, I'll rot. When I live, I'll give it all I've got.”
Line rocks. They are ahead of the curve--the Dragon, the Mothership, the Prophet, give real skiers pro-models. Jay, the best way to silence the peanut gallery is to be nice to them... and give them free skis... I'm sure me and Roo will put some Prophets to good use. Thanks!

I had a pair of the original 1260's delam back in the day. Apparentlly they had a bad batch of adhesive or something go through. They warrantied them and paid for shipping no questions asked. Thats my only personal experience with Line.
If nothing else Line's image isn't manufactured. If you want happy smiles and the world is peachy grins, go to any giant ski manufacturer with employess holding "I went to business school and don't know jack-shit about skiing" degrees. You want to stare your new-school progressive bling-bling wearing self in the mirror and you get Line.
I don't buy into the whole park-rat scene. I think sliding rails and spending all day fenced into a tiny part on some lift served mountain is for the birds. The attitude associated with it is not my cup of tea. But Line embodies it (along with a whole bunch of other bro-bra big mountain riding), and the company doesn't get down on its knees and conform to what people think is "in" to sell more boards.
And he honestlly thinks that his products are the total shit, because he intmatlly knows every single stinking detail that go into their construction. That bastard.
Every other single ski company wouldn't ever give out their honest opinion if they knew it would offend customers or affect their sales, they would feed you some lets keep the masses happy bullshit. And I assume that is what you all want?
I think Line's attitude is bullshit, and they probobally think the same about my save the trees attitude. But at least they're both not manufactured. I don't buy into any "what I should be" crap, and I don't think they do either.

So....if they told you to go suck a dick instead of warrantying your boards - that would have been cool because they didn't conform to any standards of how a company should act?
Bottom line is the guy could have gotten into a conversation that might have helped his company AND his customers. Certainly the customer service issues seem glaring. He had a chance to listen, which is the most important thing in any business, anywhere.
Instead he charged Braveheart-style into battle.
Admirable in a way, but having howling blue-painted warriors as your customer service reps seems a mistake to me.
Well let's face it, it was Jason. I really don't give two sh*ts and a fuk if you don't send me some PM skis. Fuk I don't think I will ever pay retail for skis as long as I may live.Originally posted by splat

Line rules, and you can't handle Jason's up front blunt attitude go back and your're sh*tty skis. I don't see any other company putting out skis that Line does and making skis which the riders want and not what is good for marketing profit. Look at the Prophet, you'll never see it in stores and anybody who has a pair is a true line rider that supports the progression of skiing.

I will never buy a pair of Line skis and will strongly discourage anyone I know from buying a pair.
Honestly, i don't care how good a ski they make. I do not want a dime of my money to go to a company that is represented by someone with the attitude expressed above.

I didn't say it was "cool" to act any certain way. I was trying to emphasize that they were doing exactlly what they thought was right, not what would sell make more money. Which is what every other single ski company does.
Line is not a good "company". I'm pretty sure that they are always struggling to stay alive. Their business practices suck, and they are pretty screwed competing in a tiny niche twin-tip market with a million other companies. But they don't put up any fake facade. What you see is what you get.
Damn near everyone on this board buys into a "ski image" when they go get new planks, me included. Its almost impossibly not too. How many people really need 190 Exploders for the super gnar sick lines. Line's image is different, if you don't like it don't buy their skis. I don't buy their skis. In fact, I try to plaster over all of my topsheets because I can't stand the fact that my skis are paying for some oakley wearing piece of shit to spin around in the air and give gang signs.
but no other company sticks behind what it believes in
