    Surly 1x1 sizing?

I am kind of a bike geometry jong.

Anyway, i am looking to upgrade the frame on my singlespeed and a 20" surly 1x1 came up for a killer price. Unfortunately i have no way of riding one prior to purchase and am not good at looking at stats and telling if a bike will fit.

    My stats - 6'0" with a 32" pant inseam (probably 34 - 35" actual inseam).

For referance, I currently have a 19" Jamis Dragon which fits perfectly. Any idea if the 20" frame (which i am told is actually a 19.5") would fit reasonably well? Should i be looking at the 18" (which seems really small to me?) and just get a goofy long riser stem?

I have an 18" 1x1 (5'8, 32" inseam), normally ride a 17.5" and love mine, but it feels big when going down rugged downhills. That being said I wouldn't go back and get a smaller size. If you're running it rigid it's hard to get going fast enough that it really matters though. The top tube doesn't slope so that's why it feels bigger. The 20" should be a 19.5" becuase they also make a 21" I think.

20" will fit closer to the 19" Jamis Dragon. I'm similar height and would have gone 20" if I had decided on that bike.

i'd say that it could be a tad big, having had 2. i'm 6'3. It's all preference though, but i'd rather be big on a small bike than small trying to muscle a big bike around.

Similar question so I will just bump this thread

I'm 6'2" with about a 34-36" inseam and enjoy long walks on the beach and uncomfortable silences.

Looking at the Surly 1x1 or anything else you guys might recommend in a low priced SS frame

I find that the toptube length is the key for fit. You can more range of adjustment on the seat post then the stem length.

    19" jamis TT = 603

    20" surley 1X1 = 600.0

check the rest of the angles, etc, but the TT's are very similar. (good sign)

Oh, and be prepared for a barage of questions on how to build one up. I think I might wear out the Search function on "empty beer" and here

I also had an 18" 1X1 and found it an excellent frame (For reference, I'm 6'0" w/ a long, sexy torso and shorter legs). It fit me very well. Highly recomended.

TT length is the key to bike sizing.

plus with the 1x1 if you cut off the canti bosses, you can run a large marge rim aka baby pugsly...
