I made it to limepoint fire right after the south area team. Worked with 9 excavators on rehab for 14 days. Spike was nicer than ICP. We might crossed paths!

How cool is that?!! We were working nights stationed just above Seven Devils Spike.

On or about August 11, Jim, our operator, accidentally pulled the chain for the airhorn on the truck and let out blast of unbelievable volume, at 4am.. 10 seconds at least. It echoed through the mountains for at least 15 seconds. I was standing right next to the truck. I never laughed so hard, ever. Holy shit. If you were there at camp you might have heard it!!!

I did 14 days on the Limepoint fire as well. This was one of the times that the sub-alpine fir torched off in the afternoon and we had to pull out. The flies at the ICP were gnarly, spike camp was much better.

Millie got to go for a run/ride today. Took it easy on her. 4 miles on foot, 6 miles on wheels.

Been busy with life and and stuff, and it's easy to get sidetracked with, well..... life and stuff. I've a thousand photos I could post, and I will try and throw up a few still, but in this day and age we all see awesome shots everyday, so many so that it seems to be a bit of overkill. I still take thousands of photos, just not sure what to do with them, other than me reminiscing about good times.

I do have some somewhat interesting news to share. I'm looking for John Days gravesite....

My son Tate is a history buff, and has been reading about the old west. Starting with Osborne Russell and his writings. More books filling in gaps here and there. The Astorians and the overland expedition interesting af. John Days story stands out a bit as he and others had a time of it traveling to Astoria.

Supposedly died near here (Howe ID) back in 1820, years before any Fur Rendezvous took place.

The mystery around the location where he died stems from nearly 50 years later involving Chief Josephs Nez Perce while on the run.

I think I know where the grave is within a square mile or so. Remote. Wild. So fascinating to me. I've spent a bit of time researching, finding old newspaper articles to aid in solving the mystery.

Will I find it? Hard to say. If I do, will I share that with the world? Probably not. My goal is to find it and perhaps place a small marker there for other inquisitive persons to find.

    Thoughts?

The mystery that surrounds John Day is complicated. His a fairly common name. He supposedly died 4 times. The relative antiquity. For years it was thought the location was Birch Creek, one divide to the east from the Little Lost. I am very familiar with this whole area from my peak bagging days. Tate and I made a couple of trips out there late autumn. Were able to ride the bikes to the Lemhi crest up Uncle Ike.

Props to Pebble Creek Ski Patrol. They hauled my ass off the hill yesterday, from the very top to the bottom. Excellent service.

Why you might ask? Started feeling sick and shaky on the first lift ride near the top. Got off the lift scooched over to the bench. Where I promptly fainted. I woke up from a dream as Tate called patrol over. As they walked over to me I passed out again. Tate held on to me as patroller went to fetch toboggan about 50 feet away. By the time he got back I was standing up telling Tate I could snowboard down. Hah!

Influenza I'm guessing. Going to the doctor tomorrow.

Dude, that’s scary, glad you are ok. I am 66 and a cardiac gimp, I’ve had fainting spells like that, I’m dealing with a cardiologist for it now. I second the recommendation to get checked out.
