    Sette version of gravity dropper?

Anyone heard any reviews of the sette version of the gravity dropper. Awesome price. Wondering about quality.

Search on the MTBR forums, there are plenty of reviews, and most are pretty negative. Most complaints involve the fact that it has give, so it's essentially a suspension post as well as being adjustable. I also remember complaints about it being difficult to get it to drop. There's a GD vs. AMP thread in the All Mountain forum that has some info.

I have one of these...about three rides into it.

It is indeed a "suspension" post, and the "suspension" quality sucks so bad that it makes it fine.

    err..

what i mean by that is that it sags to the bottom of it's "travel" after about 10 seconds, and it just stays in the sagged position. during technical climbs it does not seem to bob at all.

What's worse than the suspension design is the fact that I can not get it to go down without getting off the bike and pushing down on it with both hands. I can not lower it with just my weight (I'm 165lbs). I'm sure it would work better if it was on a hard tail...but my bike (575) sags too much as I'm trying to push it down while riding.

That being said...it raises like an office chair perfectly, which is sweet. On a long downhill section to suddenly get to a climb and be able to have a high seat and is great.

It did not come with instructions, and I'm wondering if there is a way to lower the tension of it so it'll work with my paltry weight. If anyone knows how to adjust it (the bolt on the bottom of the post?) let me know.

Quality wise it definitely does not feel like a really high quality item. But. It's $35. What did you expect?

So...I might sell mine if PP won't take it back. $30 shipped?

I picked one up and rode it twice in Moab...worked great. I have mine on a Cannondale Gemini, which is somewhat slack, so it doesn't drop on it's own...kinda. It drops just fine with my weight (195-200), but you have to apply the force down the length of the seat tube...so it's kinda like sliding forward and down to get it to drop.

I did notice a lot of grit in it after those 2 rides, so I cleaned it up and lubed it when I got home. If you check the MTBR thread you'll see someone that covered theirs with an old tube and zip-tied it top and bottom. I did the same to mine. I might be headed to Moab again this weekend, and will ride it again there if I go...could give you another opinion on it next week.

I won't say it's perfect, but for $35...I'll happily go through several of these instead of paying $300 for a gravity dropper.

Oh, as for the sag/suspension, I didn't notice it at all. I'm sure it exists, but the more angle to your seat tube, the less you notice the sag I think.
