What could possibly go wrong

Oh good, more betting content.
What a trash network anymore. The TV product is just yelling at eachother shows that are completely unwatchable. There's some sports every now and then, but usually biased towards ratings (duh) and not a larger view of whatever league is being shown. The website is a laughable scroll of Steven A video clips and everything else is buried behind 2 30-second video ads; the only redeeming thing is the 5 one-line headlines tucked away in the corner - just don't click on them.
I still call it The Jake.
It really is garbage.
The website is an absolute joke - 90% of the articles are about how someone feels, or what one person said about another. ESPN is essentially TMZ for sports, and it has been for a while. Unfortunately, that's what the general public wants to read and talk about though.
You'd think that market is absolutely saturated with the likes of Barstool, TMZ Sports, etc.?
I've found its easier for me to follow the teams and reporters/pages I like on social media, select radio/streams and that cuts out 90% of the BS. Everything I've read on The Athletic has been good too but I just don't need one more subscription.

Sunday night baseball blacking out my paid for mlbtv passes me off.
Espn+ is garbage.
I got rid of cable for a reason.
ESPN it's not the 90s anymore....
I miss the always reliable Braves on TBS of my youth.
FK, I prolly watched more Braves games than anyone else until the mid 90s just because they were on...
I almost never watch ESPN these days. But..
Our next door neighbor's LL team won state a couple weeks ago. They are playing on espn2 right now in their regional final up 5-0 thru 4. If they hang on a chartered plane takes them to the LL world series in Williamsport.
Edit-Neighbor boy hits 3 run walk off hr to 10 run rule AK and advance!

Move upside and let the man go through...
I only watch ESPN for games and occasionally Sports Center for the 10 best plays. In baseball season most of them are just some guy jumping up to catch a ball, but it's cool to see some Little Leaguer or D2 college softball player make the top 10. Think of the thrill. (Just don't get stuck at a party with the kid's father.)
So ESPN shows a NFL article on my google news feed, I click on it and it's a ESPN+ paywalled article. Fuck that, I just blocked them from my feed.
I used to like McAfee but he's hot steaming garbage now.

I find his tank top and schtick to be grating.
Somewhere in the distant past he was entertaining, now he's ubiquitous and overplayed.

ESPN is great at taking something okay and beating you over the head with it til you hate it
Boy ain't that the truth.
Exec: Hey, we've got MLB rights, what's popular right now?
Producer: Yankees - Red Sox!
Exec: Excellent, book me 16 prime time national slots of that for the next 5 years.
Producer: Boss, yelling shows are also popular.
Exec: Who's the loudest?
Producer: Steven A. Smith, he doesn't even make sense, yet he still yells passionately about his opinions.
Exec: Give that man our #1 anchor chair for the next decade.
I still call it The Jake.
McAfee is calling it a conspiracy. Most unsurprising news ever.

I've been watching Pat McAfee show long before it was on ESPN. I don't think it's changed all that much. I still watch the show almost daily, but watch on YouTube and pause it a lot. The YouTube show still has an extra hour at the end that is more unfiltered and the guys just joke around about stuff.
I don't agree with Aaron Rodgers conspiracy theory take on a lot of stuff, but his segments are usually pretty funny. The guys pretty much make fun of him for the tin foil hat shit and egg him on at the same time.
Lots of inside jokes with the show as well. It's a different brand of sports entertainment and if you can't understand that, then it's not for you.
Sports really don't need to be as serious as some make it out to be. Especially when you're just a viewer of the sport.
McAfee actually gets pretty good interviews. I don’t know if his goofiness disarms people or what, but gets good stuff
