I think I'm in the minority here; I rather enjoy ESPN. Well, most of it. Letting Skip Bayliss walk was a good decision. SC6 is, erm, not my favorite - but I'm not the market. Screamin' A Smith is, well... it's been discussed.

As for the rest of it, the changing times aren't helping. While many do catch highlights and such on their phones; I'd rather not. That was the MO of SportsCenter. At least it was.

Does this make me an old man? Will I now be yelling at kids to get off my lawn?

Sounds like they wanted to give him the evening slot and Will Cain his permanent co-host. I like Will and the fact they only had him on occasionally was great. It allowed for other co-hosts. And it worked.

ESPN offered him a job, and he decided he wanted to go in another direction.
I really dont think it was money. I think he is tired of putting up with the BS. I always thought he was kinda unhappy there.
Though he says all is good. Nothing bad to say.
I would say he has some balls, as he is changing careers at 43. Bold move Cotton.
He will podcast till Aug. I think, then he is going to LA to become a show writer. (mighta got some of it wrong, but changing direction)
I was watching the 2nd hour, when he said this was his last week, I had to rewind, then googled it. Yep. Gone.
I had checked last week when all the dust flared up to make sure all was good, and it was supposed to be Russillo, and Cain.
Things changed fast, as now Will will have a show with someone else..I do like Will though.. Will see

Funny, I'm pretty much the opposite. I have no need for Will Cain or Rusillo, but really like Lebatard's radio show. Pretty much the only sports show I like these days. Agree on Mike & Mike though.

You're not wrong. The current theme seems to be the hot take, then debate ad-nauseum of said hot takes. Russillo seemed to be the only one discussing the issues with his rotating co-hosts and analysts.

That must be an upgrade, though I haven't listened. The Mike & Mike schtick of the big, football meat head derping along next to the little, wise-ass journalist was hackneyed and derivative. I guess people liked that shit?

Golic and Wingo is pretty bad. It plays more like a medium market morning sports radio show now. Mike and Mike wasn't great, but Greenburg at least brought some decent interviewer skills. It won't be long before they try to shift Golic Jr. in there on a more permanent basis to try and shift to a younger demographic.

Lebatard has grown on me, but I still hate most of his show.

Like those above, I like Rusillo, and actually liked the pairing of Russillo and Kanell as well - I'm right in that demographic. I'm not so hot on Will Cain; he's a media guy who just happened to end up in sports talk and it shows.

At least now I won't have to hear constant gushing over Herm Edwards anymore, or his repetitive stories and analysis. I can just watch him fail as the ASU HC.

I was floored yesterday.
When Russillo was talking about being #4 in the ESPN ratings, he went on to say Lebretard was the #1 show, followed by Golic, Wingo, then PTI.
Whenever I hear Lebertard voice, I hit the mute button so hard, its a wonder I don't smash the radio. I would weld that fuckers lips, and smack the old man. I fucking hate that show, but it is the money maker now.
I will give him credit for Yesterday though, as the Manfred interview showed that he is capable of putting people to task. It was good radio.
I agree, if you listen to talk shows of any kind, they are louder, have sirens, yelling, gimmicks, and shit that straight up annoys me, and then its 10 minutes of commercials.
I see it even in other advertisements, it is like they do their best to shriek, or annoy people in the worst way. but, it must work.
I don't mind listening to SVP, but he does that Boomer shit during his show, and I rage instantly, along with Stanford Steve, who I have no idea why he is on the show at all.
Russillo was the tamest of the lot, not many BS noises, and mostly straight talk.

if you hated mike+mike, you'll have total apathy for mike and wingo; it's nothing more than any other sports show. at least mike+mike had cohesion and personality.

it's already moving to espn news, i'd say its gone by year end and you get more sportscenter repeats; way to blow up 4 hours of new content.

I figured that out towards the end, apparently they even have a league, the American Cornhole League, which makes it even more laughable. ESPN didn't want to tempt too many viewers away from the NBA game they were showing at the same time. I guess they prefer cornhole in Rochester.
