Me: 178 pounds, 5 foot 8.763 inches
I am not anywhere close to being a roadie but I just had to have the lugged goodness.
This is my 3rd road bike but I think I have done only 600 miles or so. I never really got into it so I'm hoping this bike will get me out 30 times or more.
I have ridden the bike on 2 short rides and my initial impression is that I love steel frames. It honestly felt like a big wheeled version of my second mountain bike from 89 or so.
I know some roadies are offended by the frame numbers but ignorance is bliss and I am having a blast. Any roadies care to explain why this seems like a big deal to some people? There are some very knowledgable bike people on this forum so I am asking here instead of some road site.
Head Angle is 70.5, Seat angle is 72.5 and headtube is 13.3 cm.Frame size 53 cm vs.
Konas Race bike(Zing) at H.A. 72.5, S.A.74.5 , H.T. 14.7
I haven't ridden enough road bikes to fully understand the difference the numbers make so this week I'm hopping on a Kona Zing and a Specialized Roubaix for a few quick town laps.
The Kapu is super snappy off the line and its so much fun to punch up to speed while sprinting. It handles bumps on the road very predictably and it just plain feels solid. Not the lightest road bike out there but I already feel like I could ride for days.
I know this time of the year should be long, slow distance rides but my time is limited so a pounding suffer fest is all I can manage.
Bike feels comfy but I am getting a wider bar and some larger volume tires as I am still not super confident at road speeds.
My trails will still be a while till they dry out so I'm diving head on into road biking.
Not much of a review but I had to share my new bike stoke!
