Are they still around? Seriously tho - I remember reading an interview with Kerry King around the time when Riegn in Blood came out where he said that after they saw an early Metallica gig they realised they'd have to start playing way more violently. Now Slayer has pretty much stayed the same as they were then while Metallica is dressed up like a bunch of fags with little haircuts and eyeliner and Hetfield's singing about his feelings.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIAAAAAAAAGGGG GGGGhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!" (the opening scream from Angel of Death) is still one of the best metal lyrics ever.

I remember blasting slayer on X-mas morning in the ski shop I used to work in . No matter how many complaints I got would not turn it off or down. Those were the days..... Those guys are getting old but still rock harder and better than any of the new "metal" bands coming out these days.

Even if you’re only lukewarm on their music, don’t pass on seeing Slayer live. They are one of the world’s great rock bands.

I listened to my Decade of Aggression 2 CD set so much back in the day that it evaporated from too much spinning.

I've never heard anybody yell something faster than Tom Araya - especially the last verse.
