    Jong Binding Removal/Remounting ?

So i searched and got some pretty useful information but i just want to double check, and actually want to have something clarified.

I have a pair of 4frnt vcts, and i want to remove the binding(salomon 914s) from that ski, remount with another binding (salomon 900), and mount the 914s on my park skis that i just got. But in trying to do this i've come across two problems.

    1) The shop overtightened the screws on both toe pieces on the 914s, is there any way to loosen them up, or am i going to have to take them back to the shop to have them removed.

    2) When i do remount the 900s on the vcts, i want to use waterproof wood glue for added hold. do i mount them while the glue is wet, or do i fill the holes, let it dry, and then remount.

Thanks for any advice you can offer on this.

900/914 all use the same hole pattern.

When you say "overtightened", do you mean that they are stripped, or that you just can't get them out?

When you screw in the new bindings, add a dab of glue to the hole to seal the hole from moisture. And use a posidriver, not a Phillips.

And whatever you do, don't use epoxy to on your screws. Your skis will burst into flames.

i know they have the same hole pattern, part of the reason i'm swapping. it makes for an easy swap. the screw doesn't appeared to be stripped, i just can't generate enough force to unscrew it, and i don't have a drill. why a posidriver, and not a phillips? whats the difference.

Posidrive just fits better, vs. philips which will fuck up the head. hit the screw with a soldering iron for a few minutes and try again with a posidrive no. 3.

If nothing else works, go pick up an impact driver from local hardware store. Again, use posidrive no. 3.

Wood glue works well instead of epoxy, which seems unnecessary considering it's just to seal up the hole.

Oh yeah, and if your shop actually 'overtightened' your screws (doubtful) the openings will be volcanoed once you take the old screws out. if they aren't then you're just a pussy

wear gloves it helps generate more torque on the screwdriver, long 6"+ driver generates more torque.

IMO that won't help if you got the wrong bit and if the screw is stuck you will strip the head or break the head off without some heat to free the bond of the screw to the ski ... who knows whats holding those screws in the ski now

a drill bit mounted backwards in yer drill supposedly will generate enough heat from friction but buddy doesnt have a drill or soldering iron besides not having the right screwdriver bit

I would say at this point ... take em in

The front two toe screws on Sallie's feeling "over-tightened" is pretty common. Get the right posi-driver and if you haven't already hosed up the screws from using a standard Philips, it should be gravy.

A long screwdriver will generate more torque if you are using it like a pry-bar.

I fail to see how you'll get more torque based on length of the screwdriver.
