Still waiting on that $20, tipp. It's 7:25 in DC - the 6 o'clock newscast has been over for nearly an hour. You gotta either be behind the computer or having a smoke with the rest of the floorcrew out in the parkinglot. Are you ignoring me? Or are you daydreaming of your gnaly flail down bass highway three weeks ago?

Jeez, I hope you're a troll after this comment. If there's anyone who's been skiing Alta for 20 years who still aches to ski it they must be in a wheelchair. I'm tempted to hike up there tomorrow just to take pictures of beaters staring into it and then skiing it (albeit slowly). I could bring the inclinometer up for some measurements as well, but I'm sure I'd look like even more of a tool than usual using it in there.

I am glad that my friendly heads-up attempt didn't derail the fun.
This thread is first on my dead pool list, btw.

No. I'm a fucking ghost. Boo.
By the way, skidog, another friendly heads up - (1) Main chute is cool and it's definitely one of the prettiest inbounds lines in the country (all of them in the baldy chutes are). It's a lot of fun but there is certainly much gnarly stuff out there. Everything looks steeper than it is. Main chute has some pitch at the top, but it's not 50 degrees. If it were, I'd tuck my tail between my legs and walk away. (2) Though there are certainly a lot of people out there who lack the skills/balls to ski it, you are thumping your chest on a message board attended by a bunch of people who can't concentrate at work because they are thinking of skiing all the time. Back to my original point, main chute is cool and all, but do you really think that there is an appreciable number of people on this board who have not skied main chute or something similar? People who are obsessed with skiing, remember?Last edited by skiski; 02-28-2008 at 07:30 PM.

i think it's funny how it took rather long for jer to post some pictures, but it didn't take long at all for him to start wielding the "when was the last time you posted stoke?" sword

You do know that I wield that sword in the most tongue-in-cheek way imaginable, don't you? Also - I posted a killer pic-of-a-pic Superior/Wolvie/Y-Cooler TR last summer. Like I said - gotta pay attention.Stoka-stoka-barboka!
Rooster - this year Great Scott is more like 75 degrees. With aid.Last edited by Jer; 02-28-2008 at 08:27 PM.

Wow. Seven page in nine hours, started with stoke, now its degraded into meaningless arguing. I mean come on guys, arguing over the degree of Main Chute is a little bit...how do I say it... FUCKING DUMB!
Who cares if this guy think its way steeper then it is. Why the hell is it worth starting a seven page argument? And besides, everyone overestimated the pitch of many runs before we got the feel for it.
Moral of the story: we all need to go skiing!Skiing, whether you're in Wisconsin or the Alps, is a dumbass hick country sport that takes place in the middle of winter on a mountain at the end of a dirt road.
