quick question...exporting photos from lightroom...how can i add an overlay...like you can do for slideshows or printing...?
somebody's gotta know how to do this...?
This is a big shortcoming in the current versions LR. Hopefully they will add the ability to do it in the future. There are a couple work-arounds if you are on a Mac. Check out http://lagemaat.blogspot.com/2007/05...ed-images.html
If you are on a PC you are SOL. If someone finds a work around for a PC, please let me know. I am tired of doing this in PS.
Why would they have Layering as a tool in Lightroom? That's what PS is for.
Well it would be super nice if you could output jpeg contact sheets for outside print jobs or add a quick border to images with your name without having to going through PS. LR can do these thing if you are printing directly to a local printer.
hmm that's a bummer. i've just been transferring to PS and adding it myself. would be so much nicer if it could all be in one step.
Well I just found a work around for PC. With LR 1.3 (maybe only in 1.4) there are export plugins. Theses let you do things like export directly to Flickr, smugmug, etc. Which is sweet.
But, whats really great is the Mogrify plugin from Timothy Armes, available for free at http://timothyarmes.com/lrmogrify.php
Then you need ImageMagick again free at http://www.imagemagick.orgl
With this combo you can do a bunch of really valuable things like export with an ICC Printer Profile attached, export with a watermark, apply a border around your images like Adam does, among other things. All directly from LR--no Photoshop necessary.
For example, this image was completely edited and exported from LR using the mogrify plugin.
