    super jong AT boot question

So, do AT boots fit all traditional alpine bindings? Reasons I ask is all the boot descriptions mention whether or not they are compatible with skinning binders. So I got a little confused. If I buy some AT boots will I be able to use them in my old binders no problem?

Thanks for putting up with me

Technical no, they do not fit, but some people do use them, but are not DIN compatible. Alpine boots can generally be used with AT binders, but not the other way around.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

so technically no, but would it be safe if I did? Would I just need to buy an AT specific bindings?

Do a search on here, there's lots of good info.

But I managed to make it work on my particular setup.

    Skis:
    Gotamas with Naxo 21's (AT)
    Gotamas with Look PX12 (alpine)
    Karmas with Look PX14 (apline)

    Boots:
    Garmont Endorphin MG

They boots fit in all bindings, but after reading some info here found out that I got lucky that my boots worked with Look's (they don't with all alpine bindings) because of the type of AFD Look toepieces have. I confirmed this at my local shop.

I keep the hiking sole on my boots at all times. Although the boot comes with both an interchangeable hiking and a hard sole I didn't want to get stuck swapping them out every time I wanted to switch inbounds vs out. The tech at my shop said that I'm adding roughly 2 to the DIN on the toe piece, which is fine because I'd prolly crank them up higher than what the DIN chart would say anyway.

I've released fine in beater wipeouts on all my skis. Just make sure you toe height is set properly on all binders and you should be fine.

Some AT boots like the Garmont Adrenalines come with a 2 set of soles: 1 AT, and 1 pair of Alpine (DIN). It's a hassle to swap soles (like 12 screws), but once you make the swap you don't have to adjust the bindings (ie not messing with toe height).

So if you want one boot for both, look for boots that ship with both outsole types.

The scarpa Tornado has an ISO din sole that works in most alpine bndings.
