Red face Tips for Treating Severe Sunburn?

I burned the hell out of my face the other day at A-basin... totally forgot the sunscreen and chapstick... some areas are now puffy and show signs of blisters forming (nose, forhead)... I'm using solarcaine (aloe and some other stuff in it) and carmex... anyone have any other tips (besides liberal amounts of sunscreen for further outdoor excursions?)

Don't pop blisters and keep coating the solarcaine on.

Sunscreen, it's not just for lifegaurds anymore.

Cut open some vitamin E pills and apply, gut it out.

Drink lots of water and take asprin. Getting burned dehydrates and asprin helps heal. Stick with all the creams too.

I did the same thing at loveland last week, I dont think one person neglected to ask "get some sun?" Try some neo-sporin, worked pretty well for me.

When I guided wilderness trips, if one of my kids got sunburned they got consequences.

Simple behavior modification: don't take responsibility for your own skin and enjoy a few nights washing dishes. Hot, humid dishrooms are the perfect place to contemplate the merits of sunscreen.

Not a word of a lie. Some years back I was stuck driving this moron back and forth to the hill while we were on course. Super hot and sunny late spring 5-6 hours out in it each day. Moron forgot sunscreen and fried himself. Uncontolled whining and then this guy is so self important he actually goes to the ER. (That eats up health care dollars big here and remember this is 'just' sunburn albeit pretty bad). At any rate the treatment offered was to slather cream on several times a day. The cream.....

Preparation H. Yep same stuff for assholes which was unbelieveably appropriate. Now maybe the ER folk were just taking the piss out of him 'cause he was clearly a knob.

The story being that stopping the itching invovles blocking the nerves, therefore blocking the pain and itching of sunburn. I made lots of jokes about it being recycled. Do with this info what you please.

At least you didn't burn your pecker in a tan-thru bathing suit!

LOL @ the preparation H story... luckily no itching yet.. i don't have any of that stuff... i'd bet calamine would work...

pretty good blister formation on and beside nose and in that little triangle between the eyes... probably b/c i wore sunglasses yesterday but wore goggles all season. one of em popped

putting neosporin on the blistered areas and continuing solarcaine aloe vera on everything else...

i thought burns didn't cause major dehydration unless they were open woudns?

how does asprin help heal? thought it was just a pain killer/bloodthinner/anti-heart attack thing... and will ibuprofin or naxprofen work?

There's been a lot of good advice as per lotions and anti-inflamatories, but nobody's mentioned drugs/alcohol to kill the pain and gently place your brain Mr. Wonka's magic boat ride. I say break into a local medical clinic tonight and go through the "sharps" bin. Then inject whatever leftovers you find into your face. I'm sure in just a manner of minutes you'd forget all about your sunburn. Once the janitor was found passed out on the floor after doing such a thing.

Go to nearest hotel. Find ice machine. Place face in ice bin.
Alternately, fill your bathtub with ice cubes. Place entire body, face down in tub. This will serve the dual purpose of cooling yo face and reminding you of your coldest chairlift ride.
In drove this drunken madman and stopped on a dime! Unfortunately the dime was in Mr. Rococo's pocket!
