    The 'hell' is implied.

That being said, if it is TRULY deep, a snowboard is really the tool for the job.

    Heh.

That should get someone's panties in a bunch.

i just checked oge's website and it looks like they do not rent tele setups. i know the uvm outing club rents tele gear, but i believe that is only for students. one of the many ski shops near stowe or smuggs must have rentals for semi-decent prices.

    I wanna play.

Hey Workinforturns take your pissant attitude back to whatever rock you imported from under, and spouting about your ski prowess really lets us know how much you suck. Just cuz you live in Bozo doesn't mean you can ride with any skills or style.

Really, how can ya tell the difference? a parallel turn is a parrallel turn. With the modern boots you can't really tell, if the heal isn't off the ski.

Probably was doing turns on the ridge before you even had pubes. Just in WV working on my class V steeze.

Seconded. So far this season I'm 95% EC Tele, but I'm bringing my alpine gear out west. I don't want to have to walk away from anything because I'm not confident in my ability.

Just started tele-ing this season myself after 20+ years on alpine skis. I also was just out west on a hut trip (Polar Star Hut in the New York Range in CO) after about 8 days on a tele setup. Of the three days we were in the backcountry, I linked 2-3 turns on one run. It felt awesome, but the rest of the time was super frustrating. Anyway, not sure if you'll be in the backcountry, but if you're planning to earn your turns, then learn how to tele powder at a resort first.

agreed. if you ski tele and you can make pretty turns on alpine skis,
then you can make beautiful alpine turns on tele's just as easily.
and with the added ability to throw in the o so graceful tele turn it is irresistible.

?? hcubed i hope you thought to make at least a few alpine turns to get a little stoke to keep you going? if not wouldn't that have felt good given your 20+ years in locked heels. there is no shame in standing tall and ripping a few.

as for Tick, this cidhead has the most relevant advice

I have lugged two pairs of boots around before and it is not necessary. if you are going with your patientgirlfriend and you ski as much as you say you do, bring only the tele's it will bring you that many more days closer to full maneuverability on the new setup and save you a small hassle. happy pow hunting

I would bring my tele set up... but only if I knew I would not be holding up the res of the group.

Now reading that the group is you and yer gf... go for tele. Otherwise at least bring your alpine gear also.

Tele is hard on the legs and it sucks to have to be the slow poke all the time... or even have to bail on the last run of the day coz your legs are toast.

    Whoops.

(Still had an awesome time though and it did improve my tele ability "immensely".)

Thanks for everyones advice, I'm goign to take my tele gear and have some fun. thankfully I won't have to lug my ridiculously uncomfortable alpine boots on the trip.

hopefully I'll muster the courage to put in some freeheel turns into the deep snow. I guess the only way to learn is to try.

Who knows, maybe I'll even see workinforturns and blow his doors off on a free heel set-up!
