    Billy Poole in Powder

I have just been thumbing through the Feb 08 issue of Powder and the name Billy Poole jumps out at me. At first I assume it's a tribute to the man after his recent passing but as I read on it turns out to be a bio/ check out this guy type article. I can only assume that the mag went to print before the accident. If not, it seems pretty inapropriate to me and a tribute would have been far more fitting. Just my $0.02 for the day.

I had the mag before he passed. Pretty safe bet that it was printed prior.

I see. Well that's ok then. This is what happens when you live on the other side of the world.

Did it get caught up in customs

Weird, but not that out there... He was bound to be profiled soon.

I had the issue in my hands a few days prior to the accident.

it'd be nice to read a follow-up/tribute in a future issue; not sure that can happen in time for this season's mags though...

Dude, he just passed, what, last week?

That powmag's been out for a good long while now - at least a month.

I interviewed Billy and wrote the article in November, and the mag was printed well before the accident. It tears me up that the piece turned into an obit instead of a rad guy who rips heads-up.

I read that article on the plane out to Utah last week, 48 hours later he dies. Definitely struck me.

"I demoed the Davenport 2 weeks ago, I really liked them a lot... the blue sidewalls and tip really looked great with my pants. I also tried the '11 MX98, they didn't look as good with my outfit. If you have blue pants or maybe some Lange race boots I recommend you check them out."

Very odd experience with this...I've been reluctant to mention it here, until I saw this thread.

I was killing time at B & N recently. Saw the new Powder, so I bought it.

Took it home, started thumbing it. Stopped at the article about Billy, and read it.
I had never heard of him before (I don't get out much...).

Something about that picture...I thumbed the mag 3-4 times later that night, but I kept stopping and staring at his picture. (NO, I'm not gheigh).

The following day, Billy lost his life in a tragic fall in the Wasatch.

    Godspeed and RIP, Billy Poole

Billy was a good friend of mine. I haven't had a chance to read that article yet, as I lost the mag almost as soon as I received it in the mail. Then, we lost Billy. It's been a deceptively calm time in the wake of this news, and I'm not sure when most of us are going to have a chance to decompress and really feel the full weight of his untimely demise.

Thanks to all the maggots for the love and prayers in honor of such a ripping dude and rad skier.
