anyone know how to get movies like .avi's and whatever i downloaded from the itunes store onto a zune?
copy the files to your zune folder for videos. (check your folder settings) then they will show up in your collection on the PC. then drag and drop to your zune or use autosync.

you can cover a plastic display with a protective scratchguard film or even a piece of clear tape on the cheap. cant do anything about a shattered screen tho. i'm kinda bummed but practically it doesnt affect anything. i dont use it for video or pictures and i use shuffle mode about 90% of the time. oh well shit happens!

How do I do that? All I've got in Settings-Device-Sync Options is either "Sync all" or "Let me choose", "let me choose" still auto-syncs when it's connected whenever I make changes in the library.

i had the same problem with the original software. i've since had 3 or 4 automatic updates push through and it no longer does this. i can check my settings and version number later when i get home and get back to you.

try forcing a software update - is there a check for updates option?

Software is up2date (settings-software-general-check for updates), not sure what version.

    Zune is up2date (device-device update) ver 2.3 (1145).

Just got a 30 gig Zune from a co-worker for 80 bucks. I haven't used it much yet but so far it is pretty sweet. I put that Hunting Yeti podcast on it. It took like 3 hrs to "convert" it even though it was in mpeg-4 which is a supported format. Anyone know why it takes that long, or is that just what it does?

I bought one of the woot.com old Zunes, and got a rubbery Speck "toughskin" case for it. It was one of the few cases I could find that actually covered the screen -- most seemed to just cover the body, which seems worthless to me.

The Speck case also covers the control buttons, and actually makes them easier to push than without the case. It's like having raised bits over the push buttons -- hard to describe, but works very well.
