That's right folks! Step right up! Popularity contest here! You'd damned well better win it!

    I've heard "might makes right."

    But, "Popularity makes right?"

This is NOT highschool but it sure seems like it. Grow up.

It's not about popularity contests. It's about the fact that nobody here (or very few!) finds Dexter offensive whereas Blurred was the poster boy for the ignore function. That's all.

I'm sure that if you took a poll, dexter would win, but probably not by the margine you might think.

I'd wager money that more people dislike dexter than voice there opinions because its not the sheik thing to rip on him.

Though it was for a brief moment today... until ONS killed Blurred's account... then everyone rallied the other direction.

Similarly, I *know* (because many have told me) that many people don't agree with the shit that went down but they are keeping quiet rather than face the ridicule and shitstorm like I dealt with for speaking up and sticking to my position.

Thusly, the neutral observer can only observe that *everyone* hates blurred.

Its cool to rip on Blurred. Everyone jumped on that bandwagon.

It is a popularity issue. It is highschool mob mentality. If you don't see it, you haven't been paying attention. That's all I have to say about that.

When Dex was perceived as taking things too far, he got called out for it. Pinner got taken to task for posting useless threads, md9 got some grief for opening up on KQ, even iceman copped some disapproval for letting dipstik have it with both barrels. This place self regulates pretty well if you ask me, even if you are one of the clique.

I don't think it ever was cool to rip on Blurred. Ragging on Brett was like dynamiting fish in a barrel. By the same token, I think Blurred had found a target in Dex who was a little easier to get a rise out of than most of the others he'd tried.

That's a cool image, poon. I like it, but I think it needs a darker background:

I agree with just about everything you posted, but I think you're wrong (unfortunately) on the above. Not that my expression actually was that dramatic, but what you're imagining as my reaction was exactly what Blurred wanted, and there's no way he would ever feel sorry for upsetting someone on the board. It was his, as they say in France (and Canada with a funnier accent), raison d'etre.
As for the popularity contest aspect, I agree that it's wrong to decide anything that way, but it's also dumb to argue (as SC00.001 has) that both parties have to be held responsible for all conflicts. There clearly was a board instigator, who enjoyed that role, and didn't know where the line between ordinary trolling and borderline stalking was. His avowed reason for being here was to piss people off, and dumbshit attention whores who use a dozen aliases (or more) to make threats against people don't need others sticking up for them.
Christ, the guy obsessively posted in response to me, even though he knew I had him on ignore and wasn't seeing his posts. There was one thread a month or so ago where I posted about 12 times and every single post of mine was followed by something from him. If I hadn't been told about the avatar privately, I wouldn't have found out.
I will say again that I'm nearly always against any official moderation on the board, but given his bizarre pattern of behavior I have difficulty arguing too strongly against what ONS did (and I'll just say for the record, again, that I had absolutely no input of any kind into what ONS decided, and learned of it only hours after it had been done).

    That is all.

Just have to chime in. Don't like to see banning, but if anyone desereved it, it is Blurred. Never saw anything positive from the guy besides good ski pictures, but even those are negated by his hostility. Dex, a little defensive, sometimes hostile, but I've seen him offer help and support to others in need. I say, the more perspectives, the better the board, but when someone becomes destructive, it is a detriment. Good riddance.

I actually know someone who has a tattoo incredibly similar to this (yeah, he's not normal). SP, you could charge royalties, no?
