The X seemed really far back on the two pairs of gold gotama's i owned, I went +1 on pair#1 and +2 on pair #2 and I would rather error on being back... +2 felt way better but i may have even settled @ +3.... with that said,
The best thing to do (which I did on my sumo's) is a direct comparison to your gotamas you love...
Make marks @ the end of the running length on tips and tails of both skis (it doesn't really matter where you perceive this to be as long as you are consistent).
From here, measure the total running length of your old Gotama's + the tip-boot center length and tail-boot center length. Divide each of these by total length to get %tip/%tail
Get the total running length of your new got's multiply by %tip (as a decimal) of old ones and measure from your tip mark on your new ones to get the boot center line equivilent to your old got's.
