So I got my wife a 80Gig Zune for X-Mas. She wants to run with it but, is it ok to run with a HD based MP3 player?

People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

I've been skiing, biking, and running at the gym with my Dell DJ which is HD for 3 years. Hasn't done any harm.
"Oh, no pics. To simulate the skiing today, walk out your door, grab a handful of snow, and throw it in your face. Repeat as necessary.
If you don't have snow outside your door, what the fuck are you living there for?"

if she wants to carry that brick around, it'll be just fine.
personally I went and bought a little, no-name, 1 gig mp3 for running, biking and skiing. cost $30.
then use the 80 gig for travel, car, all the normal stuff
It will work fine but get an arm band type carrier so it doesn't bounce/skip when she runs.
Another vote for a cheap flash-based player. I -- I mean, "Santa" -- picked up 2gb Sandisk Sansa e250s on Woot (SAC for geeks) for $30 each. There are even nice armbands available for that model.
not counting days 2016-17

Yep, probably not likely to happen too often, as the classic ipods are HD. Flash would be the safest best with vinyl being the worst![]()
I've got a small Sony flash mp3 (looks like a USB Thumb-stick drive) that is pretty cheap, has remarkable battery life, and has awesome sound quality.
woot.com has small flash mp3 players all the time for super cheap.
that being said, i have heard the buffer on the hard-drive mp3 players is huge and the chances of actually catching it while its doing something is slim.
I have a 5G ipod video and have dropped that sucker a ton of times while playing with no ill effects other than a small scratch on my case
Battery life will suffer greatly.
There will be errors reading the HD to fill the buffer, so re-reading sectors is necessary.
Armband = not so bouncy location helps.
there are threads on this.
solid state flash memory is the best for bouncing, jogging and skiing
Kill all the telemarkers
But they’ll put us in jail if we kill all the telemarkers
Telemarketers! Kill the telemarketers!
Oh we can do that. We don’t even need a reason
