Yesterday at Monarch was unbelievable. We had untracked lines all day long, as most people simply sank when they tried to ride off the groomed/tracked out runs b/c they were either snowboarders, or had on skis <100mm at the waist. It was so deep you couldn't even turn, if you did you would immediately sink. So, that left us with straightlining everything. It was a blast. What I enjoyed also was how many cars I saw driving to CB on the way up to monarch from Gunnison...there were no crowds here. Simply amazing.

Yesterday was fucking unreal up there. One of the lifties said he shoveled 4 ft at the garfield lift.

I never thought I'd be in waist deep pow at Monarch, but it delivered. Turning was infact unpossible, but it was an epic day. Note to self, charge the camera battery before skiing.

The better late than never answer is: "Yes, you are invited. But you can only bring one car full of friends."

going off would be a slight understatement. biblical, end of the world snowfall is more accurate. Snowing again right now. I think the BC is going to be uncharacteristically stable this week, no wind (yet), wet snow through the first part of this storm cycle and nothing on the ground before 10 days ago (no tg).

Wednesday morning dawn patrol, then off to Mexico for some surf and beach play.

No cat area yet but I know those guys are working to get roads out there right now.

You are invited. Bring your Bro while you are at it.

It wasn't that hard to turn! It was sketchy to see so many boarders and a few skiers literally stuck in over their heads in the trees though. Obligatory link posting of my short TR:

Monarch is not the steepest hill. All of the steepest terrain is not open yet. However pitch was not really the issue. The storm cam in really wet, I would estimate between 10-12% water?? There was no snow up there before about 10 days ago. No base, heavy snow, people were burried. By Sunday things has settled out a lot and high pressure, cold temps seemed to dry things out.
