Wolves being released in Summit, Eagle or Grand Counties. Could make for some early season fun at the resorts.

Seems like the racers are done at copper and the runs off the B are open now. Very firm and fast out there this morning for some pre work laps.

I think this is super cool, apex predators benefit the whole ecosystem. I'm quite sure we have a pack of wolves roaming the periphery of town. Had some encounters with my dog and the neighbor took a pic of the biggest male sitting in the back yard. Unusual cream color.

Yesterday was beautiful. They ran Sierra again and I got really lucky. They ran groups of 6 to looker's left (Kaboom?, Union Peak?). I was in the first group and got to ski some nice untouched snow on a good pitch. Very light crust, deep sugary faceted snow, tagged a couple of rocks at the top section. We had to ski from patroller to patroller. Just stellar early season excitement. I'm leaving for Christmas holidays, so glad this was my last day of 2023.

Maybe they will be opening looker's right soon. Here's a pic of Revenge? - maybe they are getting ready to side step it, the line I skied twice yesterday had not been crosscut or sidestepped, so who knows.

Purgatory opened Lift 8 on the back side so they can say all lifts are running. The snow quality between the rocks, brush, bare spots and uncovered, short trees and stumps was excellent.[emoji41]

The groomers are sweet right now with fresh snow over man-made and fair temps. Purple/blue wax for fast gliding and smooth turns.

This is spring creek. Everting in Horsetooth mountain park that faces south or west is snow free. Small sections of death ice and packed snow in the shade. Higher north facing still probably holding snow. Great running conditions and very rideable if you don’t mind navigating some icy spots

Yea they are hard! caught the "reopening" of slalom yesterday and it was much nicer to just traverse over to a freshly groomed griz road then ride the chunder.

Friday was great. Best shape I have ever seen the ridge. Snowboarders must not of known it was open.

We need it to deliver as it looks like we may be back to high pressure for 1-2 weeks after this one.

Dialed in some new skis yesterday at Abasin. Been a while since I've seen it so thin there going into Xmas. Where is El Nino?

    it skis like even less

had fun ripping some super thin bump runs off timberline at copper yesterday. I may have been scraping rocks and tree branches and put a little shot in my ski but it was better than being on crowded groomers that are becoming damn near impossible to hold an edge.

Yeah, it skis like 2-3 runs, more like a typical early November. Empty yesterday but that's going to change here shortly and will basically be the WROD unless we get lucky this weekend. Abasin is the new Keystone (or worse) as far as snowfall goes it seems.

Edit: It could be much worse (Epic pass days) so all good.
