Yesterday was the quintessential spring ski day at the basin, been hit or miss cloudy/windy up there lately otherwise. Had a blast on my ol' 2010 Hellbents.

1.5” hail last night here in Niwot during a pretty intense storm, and the hail is still in our yard this morning. Sounds like I’ll be parking my truck in the garage later this afternoon with a bigger round of storms on the way.

Did they still have Pali and East wall open?

pali chair yes but no pali terrain since last friday. Ever since that slide in there years ago I feel like they're super weary of keeping the terrain open this time of year, even though yesterday was the first truly hot day in a bit. Too bad since it looks absolutely perfect right now

All of east wall is still going strong, except tree chutes.

Good luck on the continued progress ASF! Sounds like you have an extended time of being non weight bearing, maybe you can find a hand cycle- that's what a buddy of mine did with his femur fracture.

Yeah, just wondering. I drove by Saturday and it was only 43F and it was all closed. Sucks. But I guess I get it. They monitor the snowpack pretty heavily in the start zone of where that slide was, so they must know enough to not be comfortable. They did say that stuff would open if it got colder again. I know some of the guys that were around when it happened and totally get their perspective and reasons for not opening.

I am hoping to hit the Basin Friday or Saturday depending on weather. Will be staying up in Breck (but don't have an epic pass so the Basin is where I'll be).

If it is cold enough, next week could be pretty awesome. If not, then it could be pretty shitty.

Bummed I can’t ski, but hope someone gets after it.

I've gotta work the next couple days, but then I'm hoping to get out. Rain/snow mix over the weekend may kill my motivation though.

I haven't skied Breck in decades. I might go tomorrow on my way to Golden for Mother's Day- is there free parking anywhere, and which peak is even open? Might as well use that stupid Epic pass.

Rained in anger here in Salida last night starting around 1 or 2 a.m. Now a snow/rain mix this a.m. but not accumulating too much. Assuming the high country is getting a nice little refresh, might have to go ski something tall this spring after all.
The older I get, the faster I was.

    Punch it, Chewie.

I hope folks are getting out and enjoying this high up pow the next few days. I'm happy to just be imagining skiing it from my recovery chair though.

All town parking is free right now for the month of May. They have 6/7 fully open and then Tbar and imperial on 8, but you can't ski to the base of 8 since they're doing construction. You should swing by the shop and say, Frank! Although we're probably gonna be closed til noon to go skiing haha

Any Abasin or WP condition reports from today? Cascade concrete or something else?

I am wondering if a basin opened any terrain. Terrain status on the website doesn’t look promising.

Looking like Dublin in Denver this AM. So green. Apparently this is the biggest moisture event in the FR since 2013.

Skied berthoud pass after work yesterday, cream cheese consistency. Felt bottomless though so it had that going for it! In the trees was a little nicer than open areas. Click image for larger version.
